A shame we'll never get to see the 777 in Delta's iconic widget livery....

Yeah, don't know why Delta never did a Widget retro livery - maybe because they know it would look better than their current Eurowhite mess? Doug

Nothing is set in stone. If we see rapid economic turnaround and demand for seats the 777 may stay a while longer.

As much as I want Delta to paint retro liveries on their aircraft, it goes against their company philosophy. They put extra emphasis on brand recognition which is why you hardly see any special liveries.
