Online Airline Management Games

Hello, recently I've found a Facebook app called Airline Manager. Its really fun, and has a pretty large amount of players. The problem is, it has many bugs, and you can say that its still "In the works".

I was wondering if any of you know of any other Online (Browser based) airline sims. I know I can check google, but I still wouldn't be sure if what I find is reliable or not.

Thanks!

Yeah I'm on Airwaysim.com ... it's pretty addictive and in-depth. You have to pay but it's like $5 for a 3-4 month long game. They're continually updating stuff to make it better too.

Ehhh, you have to pay? Well, that immediately sends me off, especially since there's a time limit.

You guys know of anything free?

Also, does anyone have any information (Or uses) on airline mogul? It seems free, but I'm not sure.

I also play Airline Mogul, depends on what world you're in, gets quite hard at times.

It gets kinda boring after a while, so I have given up.

I used to play Airline Mogul, and before then, Airline Empires (belch, the people typically at the top were usually exploiting some kind of bug in the game). Of course, because those games require/required you to be glued to your monitor 24/7, and me as a College student have much better things to do than adjust a route every hour, or even worse, every 5 minutes for 2 hours, I just decided after a certain point, that would be my last round of Mogul for some time.

24/7....ya serious? I rarely play those games and usually go bankrupt every time.

Not to mention the majorports that I build hubs in....

That is why the #1 stragety, unless you're uber skilled is STAY AWAY from the megaports like LHR and CDG, or any airport larger than 10-15 million pax/year in Mogul. It is a slower start, but within time (like 3 game years) while the bigger guys at the larger airports are crushing everyone with A300s and such, you'll be able to survive well with a nice large fleet of 70-130 seaters. I developed a strategy that works for me every time I play mogul, it requires a bit of patience, especially within the first game year, but it is very well thought out and is very effective later on, as you risk don't losing profit/seat as you would from the larger airports, where even a 737 won't be enough.

If you rarely play and go bankrupt every time, that's because you got undercut quickly until you had a near-0 Load factor. Or at least a low profit that will not cover your monthly expenses (this is also where you have to understand aircraft strategy too, stay away from large planes, focus on 60-130 seaters for most airports.

Well, I tried out airline mogul, and It seem I really suck at this game. I start off with 1 small plane and $500,000, and now my monthly expenses dwarf my income. That game is way too hard.

Once you go bankrupt on Airline Mogul, can you start over, or do you have to wait for another world to open up?

Maybe I should stick with Airline Manager.

Ya need 30 tokens to join a world, I think ya should take a look at the private worlds, you can usually choose the world that's suitable for ya.

Yeah, I only thought about joining a private world after I realized that some private worlds didn't need passwords. I guess I'll wait to get more tokens or go bankrupt.

Here is your issue, you ONLY flew to major airports. Of course you'll have issues with hardcore competition with that, especially if you based from a larger US city like Las Vegas or something like that. Those ciities will be filled with experienced players and newbies and n00bs who think that pretending to be Ryanair, but with leased 737s and and a 20 seater will make you jump up in the value rankings.

Idk what you hubbed from, but when I played AM, the 777 is a just a bad aircraft overall. It is just too large for most routes in the game. Not to mention, from what I see, you don't have a very good domestic network, so jumping to long haul like that is also a very bad idea. You need to build up a massive domestic network (and by that, I mean TONS of regionals) before you should even think about long haul.

Here are pieces of advice from all the threads about Mogul that I was in from me, the advice is detailed in my opinion:
Airline Empires trouble - Wings900 Discussion Forums
Here is a really good one, study the aircraft list to get a general idea of what aircraft to operate:
Playing Airline Mogul - Wings900 Discussion Forums
Another good set of rules on aircraft, I would like to consider this some words of wisdom, could be modified to the modern rounds:
Airline Mogul or Airline Empires? - Page 7 - Wings900 Discussion Forums

So you guys, if you read, you'll notice a pattern with what I'm saying, and to a large extent, is also what the larger guys do/start out doing in most cases (especially in aircraft strategy).

Re: Online Airline Management Games

^^Yup, that is all very true. Of course, you only start up with one tiny aircraft, so it would definitely take much more time before you get enough money to buy larger ones like a 777 (Which costs 250+ million, not mentioning you only start up with 500,000).

I used that strategy from the beginning, and found it to be quite rewarding. I chose to base my airline in the Philippines. Now, most people who would do the same would probably base their airlines in Ninoy Aquino Intl, but that has a gate fee of 250,000.

Instead of instantly making myself bankrupt, I based myself in Diosdado Macapagal Intl, which only has a 50,000 gate fee. All my routes are to airports with 50,000 gate fees, besides Cebu Mactan (which has 100,000).

In the end, my airline would get 530,000 per month, which isn't that bad for a beginner I guess, compared to other beginners who based themselves in Cebu and Ninoy Aquino
with all the competition.

By the way, my Airline Manager airline is Rhapsody Intl.

530 per month isn't too bad, especially with only smaller aircraft, and especially from the Pacific area where everything is spread out, though eventually I would look at also flying to larger airports too, as it isn't bad to fly to those larger airports, I actually encourage flying to them, but isn't smart to base in these airports just because of the competition.

You just have to learn your limits as to what is the largest/most expensive airplane (as that goes into your maint cost) you'd like to have on certain routes. If you go into Public World #9 (hopefully it's still there), my airline ended up being ranked 25th in terms of total airline value on it (though actually, it was 14th, the other 11 players ahead of me stopped playing, so they disappeared from the rankings you would see if you were in the round).

Hello! (Quite new here in DiecastAircraftforum.com :)) I have been playing Airline Mogul for a month now, it is still boring when you are still in the beginning phase of your airline but it starts to get trickier, harder (maybe even more fun) and needs more strategy as your airline continues to grow. The strategy here is fairly straight forward..... First, pick an airport, between 10-20 million passengers, where you could reach many other airports in that area. Also, in that airport you must have little to no competition. (Don't worry about the gate fees, the first gate in your hub is FREE!) Then, try to lease as many small aircraft as you can and need, so that you could expand and accumulate profit, faster than waiting for your 1 or 2 small A/C to accumulate themselves. Slowly, as your A/C leases reaches its deadline, then start buying your own to replace them. After this, you could continue on using these steps to expand and hopefully, open new hubs in other continents or you could experiment around; try to find the most profitable route within your area of operation.

MY OWN STORY :D
Playing at Private World #897:The principle of Aviation, 90 years of beautiful aircraft, started out in the Philippines (Ninoy Aquino Int'l) since there were no other airline based there when I started, served small airports in the area like: Diosdado Macapagal Airport, Subic Bay Airport, and such. I happened to bring my profit up to 100,000 to first few game months and soon, started to serve some int'l routes, but my "happy life" ended when competition arrived in the form of Rhapsody Air Orient (it might be you Compass :D) and soon we were racing to get our airline value up. Lost some 10 million airline value when I set up Incheon Int'l in Seoul as my new hub but got my profit up to 550,000 so the next few game months, I just sat and waited for another year to arrive and get my money. So, that's fairly my story; or maybe told you too much. hehehe :D

Oh hello there. Yes, I do use Private World 897 and am Rhapsody Air Orient. Have to admit, its kind of creepy how you know that, unless you googled up Rhapsody Air Orient and found a thread I created of a fictional livery for it (You an find it in the 'What if' section).

Ha. I did notice you stopped making routes from NAIA, but didn't expect you to move to Incheon. If you noticed, I kind of dug myself into a hole in Yamaguchi. It get a pretty decent passenger amount, but I probably should have waited and gone for a larger airport like Osaka-Kansai or Fukuoka.

Maybe I said too much, but its just a game. The lasts till 2012 (Real world time), so there's always a chance for change.

Also, if you don't mind being in a US map, private world 967 is pretty good. It has a pretty decent game length and takes place from the 90s to present day. You also start off with 2 A320s and $5,000,000. It only has 15 members so far, and isn't so challenging.

I knew that you're Rhapsody Air Orient since you said in a previous message in this thread that you are Rhapsody Int'l in Airline Manager so in couldn't have been coincidental. :D Anyway, about me building a base in Incheon, I have been planning this even before you set-up your airline in NAIA, so the idea was there for quite some time now. Actually, I was planning to build a base in the Middle East or Africa instead of in northern Asia but since you set-up a base in Japan (Yamaguchi-ube) I needed to at least give up a fight or else you could have dominated the East Asian market, and that could have been a great loss for my airline. So, anyway keep up the good work, you're nearly reaching my airline's value. :D Oh yeah before I forget (again!), Compass are you a Filipino?
