Question Why is there a new "Waffle Collectibles" subforum here?

Hey guys.

So just a few weeks back, I noticed that there was this new "Waffle Collectibles" forum in the "Clearance Delivery" section. I didn't really pay any attention to it until today. I read on of the threads in the forum and they were all posted by this user named "waffle". I glanced at some of the words in the thread and they were all just models for sale.

I also noticed that this "waffle" guy was banned, and his last post was on August 11, 2015, which is 2 days before. (The day before the day before today. )

So I'm just curious - what exactly is this "Waffle Collectibles" forum? Is this just a new selling forum? Or something else? I just want to know.

Thanks.

Excellent question, I noticed this when it first appeared 2-3 weeks back & thought it strange that a section be opened up for this mongrel

Daniel, you just joined DAC so there's a LOT that you don't know, but suffice it to say that there will be other retailer subforums soon enough.

Good to know. I was upset when I saw the above mentioned subforum. I'm all about equality.

I was not pleased to see that he got his own sub forum on here when most of the stuff we see from him is users fighting because of poor customer service.

Yeah, I have to agree. I've been around here long enough to see some pretty nasty stuff coming from Mr. Waffel.

I thought he started his own forum, DiMA? Perhaps his vitriolic rudeness has outgrown his own 'fiefdom' and he has come back?

Hey.

So this waffle guy just got his very own sub forum? Also, is he permanently banned, or just temporarily? I think the mods should move the threads in the sub forum into the buy and sell forum.

What if this thread turned into a thread that's just talking about how bad this waffle guy is!?! Or maybe he'll make a duplicate account and post here!

Just asking, but since this is your first post, Kalibu, and since you joined in 2014, why did you not post until now? I'm just asking.

It is interesting that with all the retailers/vendors out there that this should be the first one to receive a subforum.

Kind of gives special attention to bad behavior.

I unreservedly apologise Tupolev, poor form on my part to assume that you intended otherwise

Creating a sub forum here just reeks.

Again, sorry!

how is it that he can create a sub-forum and be banned thereafter without the sub-forum being deleted? do the admin not have the option to remove such sub-forums? would seem like he's getting more airtime than any other sponsors... at prime time slots.

Hi guys, debates on customer service aside this needs to be addressed. The recent ban on Waffle was done without any recorded rules violation and as such needs to be lifted in accordance with Waffle's vendor arrangement. I'm not ad liberty to discuss the details of this contract but it's also why he has a sub section. I apologize for any confusion this has caused and will be available to answer what I can about this.

Give it a break. My experience with Waffle is 95% good, 4% astounding, and 1% questionable, and I have never had one of those dialogs that spun out of control. Look in the mirror before you go off. Enjoy the hobby, Doug

G'day,

While I'm not going to step into the debate as to why Waffle has a forum on here (it's been explained elsewhere) I do take offense when some people who think because they had a bad encounter with Waffle Collectables, consider it's then their right to mouth off again and again about it.

Are we going to hear how Walmart ripped you off too? Thing is, Waffle has very clear instructions with his site. Follow them and you'll have no problem. Decide otherwise and yes you might/probably/will encounter problems.

In the time I bought from him I got some amazing deals, one wrong model which he refunded and let me keep the model and great service. Tho when I became a Moderator on here, Michael and Waffle Collectables refused to sell to me anymore.

And yes... we've had some big BIG Blues on here and via emails. But... that's all just about letting off steam and oneupsmanship. Never took anything said personally. Why should I..? It was said in the heat of the moment.

Waffle Collectables has as much right to be here as any other advertiser. For the few who don't like him, you're not being forced to buy from him, same as you're not forced to buy Tampons when you see those advertised on the internet or the media. If you are buying them because you feel compelled by the advertising, then it's you who has the problem.

Exactly. Those people that complain, when they post their emails and what not, they always remind me of folks that are in front of you in the check out line at the supermarket and endlessly debate with the cashier over a penny while you stand there waiting with ice cream dripping on the floor.

you let the ice cream drip on the floor? that's not an effective solution to the circumstances, is it? and you're blaming the folks who religiously save every penny???

So... you didn't read that either..? Sorry to be so 'Smarty-pants'. It is a rarity that rarely happens for me...!

I don't want to make any more mistakes. I'm out of this thread too.

No Ukrainian_Falcons, you simply said something that was completely off topic, had nothing to do with Waffle collectables, and therefore it was deleted. If it was something that added to the discussion, it wouldn't have been deleted

There are actual active mods now and you're still floating around here? Thought they'd give you the boot along time ago

I never had a problem with him comm or product. Haven't bought a model from him in a good minute either though...

I think the original poster asked a question, which was adequately answered by the site owners and moderators. At this time, maybe good to lock down this thread as it will only go further downhill from here onwards.

No, it should stay but sadly the recent example were another member was abused in one of the first posts has been deleted. Waffles comments even bordered on racism. Threads like this should not be taken down, they serve a purpose as a 'heads up' to the new guys.

That's all most of us here who give a damn about the hobby want to do - to warn those that think cheap deals from this guy are worth pursuing do so at their own risk. Not saying don't buy from him - but if you do be prepared for the fallout if things don't go to plan.

No Lou - we don't come on here and bleat on about Walmart, this is a model forum right? I think it is incumbent on those of us that have been abused by this low-life to make all members aware of who they are dealing with. Your tampons analogy leaves me scratching my head!!!

I feel sad that the forum has had to stoop so low as to accept advertising funds from Waffle and give him his own thread... And Doug sticking your head in the sand and pretending there is not an issue because it hasn't happened to you when plenty here have been abused doesn't make it right.

No one spending money deserves to be spoken to that way, its called business 101.

I'm an admin on another modelling forum so appreciate what Lou & the other staff have to deal with, the financial needs of the forum balanced with members views.

I've made my point known, it is what it is.

i second the free flow of information. people have been quoting from email excerpts of their communication with waffle. nothing wrong. they're not even paraphrasing just to give their side of the story. we've seen how like attracts like... and we've seen the total contrast of civility. what is wrong is flogging someone for something that is made up. personally, i have not seen this happening. end of the day, we can draw our own conclusions as to whether we wanna deal with waflle or not.

i disagree with censorship by reason alone of so and so being the biggest sponsor. yes, it's the forum administrators' prerogative and if so, it's not a "free" forum but a sponsored one. i was always under the impression that this is a free forum. i now know better that it is not. so be it. it's for us to choose whether a forum that favours a particular retailer is worth contributing to or not. some forummers have fallen by the wayside in disillusionment... and some choose to be silent observers lurking about. to each his own.

Agreed, and very well put. This thread (and others in kind) should stay to serve as fair warning to those just entering our pastime. Although I personally never had any run-ins with Mr. Waffle/Waffel/whatever, I stopped patronizing his online shop after I heard a number of the nasty outbursts directed at others here. Most certainly not on, indeed -- especially from a retailer. Uninitiated new collectors don't need to be bitten by a cobra.

--Lou--
G'day to you too Lou,
Sadly it's more than just "a few" who've had negative dealings with him. We constantly see negative threads popping up on forums and all are regarding the same retailer. You obviously condone his behaviour towards customers if you don't see a common denominator here. There's absolutely no excuse for behaviour we've seen from this retailer towards any customer regardless of the issue. Many issues don't even have to do with complaints regarding his used, second hand models that come with rules and regulations. Some are just simple questions which he then belittles and verbally abuses the potential customer.
I too used to be a customer of his without any issues until it was my turn to be abused. I said screw him and moved on. I now deal with a handful of retailers with absolutely no issues at all. I don't need his "great deals" on used, second hand models.
I personally don't care much for these threads nor do I find them entertaining as some do. He actually thinks it's free publicity (not thinking it BAD publicity) and starts bragging on how he had the best weekend yet in sales.

G'day ELY707,

I'm in your situation too. I USED to purchase from Waffle and found some good bargains, however when I became a Wings900/DAC Moderator I was banned by Waffle from making purchases. Furthermore an escalating war of words ensued reaching dizzying heights of name calling on behalf of Michael... such classics as "Nazi Cripple" come to mind. (I'm actively involved in my local Jewish community and I'm in a wheel-chair, so go figure on the insult lol).

I didn't take offense at his remarks and simply wished him Love and Hope from Jesus Christ and said I would pray for him! Sadly I don't think I ever got around to doing it though...

Simple fact is some people will continue to buy from him, others will swear black and blue to NEVER buy from him and others will try with varying results. I can't believe any member could possibly wander blindly into a purchase without doing a little research. I google every Online business or Retailer I'm looking to purchase from.

Any member on DAC/Wings900 can do a search on Waffle and read the results and then make up their own mind on whether it's worth dealing with Waffle Collectables. Clearly a number of members do purchase from him. That's their choice.

--Lou--
