I see now why the site was offline on the weekend.
Now one gets annoying Pop Up Ads every time you adjust the screen on your iPad. Covers up what you are trying to read and prevents you from Navigating the site.

I believe that was always obvious.
There are also ads on the margins, but they don't interfere with trying to read or navigate the site.
The new pop ups are truly annoying and not a feature found on other Diecast sites. Seems like a good way to encourage traffic to leave and look elsewhere.
Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Agree,
My andriod device has no problems at all. Seems to only annoy Apple users. Which is fair as Apple users are usually very annoying when talking about thier devices - That's a joke people!
These are my personal views and not those of a wings moderator... So there!

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Regardless of our platform preference, are these pop-up ads going to be eliminated? I'm surprised somebody thought these were a good idea, because it is a well-known internet marketing statistic that nothing causes people to flee a site faster than annoyances like this.
And given the fact I only drop by here maybe once or twice a week, it wouldn't take much MORE for me to entirely forget about this place.
'Make.me.laugh', got an answer for us on this? Ooops! I see this is an old thread . . .

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
They have only just started showing up for me and they are very annoying. They cover up parts of the threads. Needs to change but bet it does not.

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
I realise they serve a purpose, but I think they are kind of overkill now. The banners down the sides are fine, but when they block what you are reading, that is a bit of an irritant. Also, what's up with certain words turning green? Click on it,and I am supposed to buy car tires.

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
I told the MAS Media to consider removing these ads about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm hoping they'll scrap them ASAP. The only revenue they are getting is people accidentally clicking them as they're in such a stupid position.

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
I'm getting two pop-ups at the same time, and worse, this morning I got an eBay pop-up featuring a 1/400 Eastern Airlines 747 that I lost out to a guy using autobid. Now that's just plain cruel. Later, Doug
Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Annoying as Hell. This forum has enough issues without stupid pop-ups. If this is generating revenue for the owners, they need to figure out another way - or at least keep them on the side.

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Is there a way the admins can get rid of some of the words that the popups stem from? Like from the Military section, that subtext that has the word politics, get rid of that word because i see that word highlighted and they stem into an ad

I'm using the IE11 pop up blocker and do not see these advertisements.

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
It appears to have stopped for me since I popped by earlier in the week for some lurkin'. For curious minds, I often use my elderly Mac PowerBook G4 here with the browser 'TenFourFox' which is just a re-cut of Firefox for PPC processors. My version is 31. (I guess I should upgrade to 33.)
Yes . . . the pop-up blocker is always on. Anyhow . . . seems like the 'pop-ups' have popped down.

Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Been here since 98...hate to leave, but might be time. Crazy, annoying ads. Also seem to notice that a lot of the regulars are gone...is there another aviation model website that is happening now?
Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
I agree with this. This is why I started my own facebook group. Just as much information and release info, were only 2 months old and we have over 1000 members. I love it much more than this website. May be leaving soon too as I am tired of the pop up in the lower right hand corner every time I reload the page.
If anyone is on facebook and wants to join, here is the info:

Since you asked so nicely.
You can always try DiMA.
It just needs a bit more support. From YOU! (and you and you and you).
Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Facebook: has many specific pages devoted to model making/collecting of every kind. Zero in on what you like and go from there. Not as easy to hide there.....and no pop-ups to block the post or forward toggles.

Yeah, but... I have not felt the urge to open up my life on Facebook - it seems to me one step too far, and although DA.C has been a great place to share the 1/400 diecast airliner hobby, the pop-ups and the childish rants are making it a real bother. I may move off line and just build an email file of the best among us. Sad situation, Doug
Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
What you put on facebook is totally up to you. I have members without pictures and hardly any photos that I know are from this forum, and they are active participants. It is nice not to have ads and still be able to participate in the hobby. Gemini Jets, Phoenix, and JC all have their facebook pages where they post constant updates and photos that reach these forums later. It is a much more current way to stay relevant in this hobby.

I have never come across a page specifically dedicated to cutaway models/collectors. But many members on the page I moderate have posted their cutaway models in addition to everything else aviation related... I dont know if that interests you.

You could try going directly to Westway. There you can order and view many types of cutaways.
Re: What's up with all these "Pop Up" Advertisements?
Oh Dear! So many of you being disturbed by the pop ups. None of these coming my way so how do you figure that ? Maybe I just had it all set up properly (as I know nothing about the technicalities of such irritations).
