Default NG Models wishlist

Their latest models, based on the 1011 mould turned out really nice, so i asked myself what could be the next moulds NG comes up with....and which you'd like to see. We have the B787-9, so my guess would be a 787-8 and a 787-10 as a logical step.

The 787-9 mould already was done by other manufacturers before, so maybe NG has also an A350 or a 777 on their to-do-list.

What do you think we are going to see in the future, or what mould would you like them to do.

It might be helpful to have a more specific thread title. There are threads for wishlists for models from specific NG moulds such as the 737-800 and 787-9. It seems like you are asking about an NG moulds wishlist.

That said, hands-down the biggest next mould need is a set of 747 classics-- -100/200, -300, and SP. The AC/ BB -100/200, -300 and Witty -100/200 moulds are effectively lost. Neither Herpa nor Gemini's SP moulds--which rarely see the light of day--are of 2019 quality.

After those moulds, MD-80 series.

I hope we don't see them create another A350 or 777 mould. To me, creating their 787 tooling was almost overkill as JC has an awesome mould, one I almost prefer to the NG. Aviation400 already has a terrific A350 mould and JC Wings has a great 777 mould with various engine options. Personally, I think it would be a better use of their resources to consider aircraft such as the 747 family or MD80 family.

I'd like to see them put out some good 787-9s first. For -10s Gemini uses the JCW mould which is fairly good, it just lacks bottom antennas and has plastic tail planes. And Gemini does some nice color schemes. I'd take an NG over it but the Gemini versions are competent and will likely cost a lot less. I wouldn't oppose a -10, but I'd rather see more -9s up front.

I think A350s are now well covered as the JCW/Gemini and Aviation 400 versions are nice. The issue with those two is a reliable release schedule. Gemini doesn't have that issue although again they lack the bottom aerials.

What I wouldn't mind seeing:

747-100/200/300 - American, United, Delta

A300 - American
A220 - The Gemini versions have crappy wheels and are overall underwhelming
777-8/9 - But lets wait until they start being delivered to airlines

They have said the 787 is going to be only a very small focus, something like the owner of NG likes to have it for liveries he likes. I don’t expect regular releases of them to the extent to we have seen with the 757 or even 737.

I think 747 classic would be a winner for sure, same with MD-80 series as has been mentioned. My vote would be for an E2, but not a lot of subject matter right now. I am not sure if the business case justifies it, but a good Tu-134 and Tu-154 mould would be most welcome.

An Il-62 with more accurate engines would be nice aswell. Some decent russian airframes would be would be nice indeed.

Although I'm a big fan of modern airlines, I wouldn't particularly want a 777 as it has been stated before that there are lots of good moulds out there but regarding the A350 I don't think it would be a bad shout, as the Aviation400s are quite rare and hard to get hold of. More 787s would be very much welcome though!

I think a good idea would be to an E-jet series as they are widely used across the globe and have been and are operated by many airlines, with only GJ/JC having a mould that they hardly ever use. I would like to see a good 767-300 because again lots of liveries could be made with that mould, and it one of my personal favourite planes. It is NGs decision after all and I'm not going to tell them what they can and can't do.

Developing a new mould is expensive, we heard that a couple of times. I cannot imagine NG developing a new mould and just offer 5-6 liveries for it. That would just make no sense. And a lot of 787s where made by PHX, and lets be honest, the NG mould is the better one and the models are better detailed. PHX models have this wingflex which only makes sense in the flaps-down version or retracted undercarriage.

As for the 777 - we nearly have the same amount of manufacturers which offer a 767 compared to the 777.

767

Gemini
Phoenix
Aeroclassics
DragonWings
JC Wings

777

Gemini
Phoenix
Dragon Wings
JC Wings
AV400/Apollo Models

And JCW models take a pretty long time to be delivered. You almost forget that you preordered them.

Throw in some other stuff that isn't getting done much: Classic 747s, 737-500, 737-400, DC-9-10, MD-80, 707-400. Did I mention C-141B?

The only 767s worth getting are the Phoenix ones, and they don't do many American airlines (practically zero). Gemini are underwhelming and Aeroclassics does okay 767-200s but they aren't very detailed and have terrible quality control. I can certainly see potential for these. If you're okay with the Gemini 767s they you should be okay with their 757s which they still make but NG still had a lot of success with them.

And yet they developed and released an A330-743L Beluga XL...
IIRC personal preference of the NG boss played a part in that, but it does indicate that they may be amenable to other unique types that have wider collector appeal. (Like the Herpa An-225 for example.)
That and that alone gives me a small shard of hope that I may one day see my holy grail released in 1:400.

I take back all my previous wishes. The 114 is the best idea yet. Only issue is that it was only used by one airline (Aeroflot) and sort of by JAL, so you would quickly run out worthwhile liveries for that mould investment.

Yes, exactly. It is essentially in the same league as the Beluga XL and the Mriya. I count four distinct liveries, without going into subtle variations of same which would add a couple more.
1. Scheme worn by the prototype.
2. 1960's in service scheme.
3. JAL markings added to #2.
4. 1970's 'billboard' scheme.
Not much to be sure, unfortunately. But one more than the Mriya and who knows compared to the Beluga XL? Odds are small, but I'd hope it's spectacular looks and size (think 767) would make it popular to a wider market in the same way as the Mriya and Beluga XL...

Sure the Tu-114 was on my mind too. But there is a difference in developing a mould which offers lets say 20-30 or even more liveries (and the manufacturer just wants 4 liveries being released) or a mould which is limited to 4 liveries. When NG one day change their mind and want to release more 787s they can - it is different with 114, if not the put some fantasy liveries on it (CSA, LOT, Balkan Bulgarian. Honestly i more see Herpa doing a Tu-114 in 1/400 than NG. More likely to see an Il-86 from them.

This is what I would want:

DC-9 and its derivatives (MD-80, 90, 717)

All 747 variants

727

Just to name a few... Maybe even other 737 variants like the 737-700

We have Saab 340, DHC-8, YS-11, ATR-42/72, Convair 340/440/580, SH-360 moulds in 1/400 (all under utilized in my opinion). How about a DHC-7 mould? Tons of livery choices over a few different eras, fitting into several collectors' criteria. I believe it would be a popular mould if produced, and it seems NG can produce the fine details and accuracy required. My vote is for a 1/400 Dash 7.

I'd take an ng models MD80 any day!! Such a unique aircraft with a variety of liveries both new and old. Not only that the current moulds on the MD80 are sub-par and underused maybe it's time to add that ng models magic on the MD80.

I'd take a Tu114 in a heartbeat, along with the Connie, probably the most enigmatic piston airliner ever built. Wow it would look good!

As others have said repeatedly, the 1/400 is desperately short of a Tu134, also an AN12, though I know there is little support for these from our American friends on here.

I'd also take a C141, would be very popular.

Don't lump me in with that! I'll be all over the Whistler. In case you haven't heard why it has that nickname, here's one of my videos from onboard Alrosa's example that just retired - https://youtu.be/lg6Vq0MW4Dk

Would absolutely take a Tu-114 too, I have Herpa's 1:500 example but would rather have it in 1:400 for sure. I certainly understand the desire for a new 747 Classic mould and the DC-9-10 would be lovely.

Honestly I hope they do an A350. Only JC just recently got the nose right, and well, we all know how they do in terms of delivering the actual models. Other than that I'd love to see my favourite, the A220, even though there aren't that many operators, considering we still haven't gotten a great mould for it. Other than that I'd say the way to go is classics, like other people mentioned, like the MD-80s and 747 Classics.

I honestly think another A350 is not really needed as Aviation400 have made an amazing mould for it.

AV400 350s aswell as JCW A350s being made are out of stock almost everywhere. So a market would be there.

Lovely Soloviev Symphony Denny, that takes me back!

For those who are interested in what it was like on the other side back in the day here's a nice 10 minute clip full of all the atonal whistling, screeching and buzzing you would expect to find at a typical Soviet era airport even if it was recorded only 20 years ago.

Yeah, I'd go a Tu-114 in 1/400 in a heartbeat too. I've often been tempted by the 1/500 Herpa, but it wouldn't fit size wise with the rest of the collection.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/mark_allison/37228142151/ Whenever NG gets the 737-700 mold made, I would love for them to do the Southwest Louisiana and/or Missouri One (Link attached) if Gemini Jets doesn’t make it yet. I highly doubt they will do Missouri One anytime soon since they don’t have a 737-700 spilts mold in 1:400.

Pretty sure Gemini does have the split winglets in 1:400.

I agree, and I'd like to add the DC-9-10 to the list. I can think of at least 40 that I would like to see.

Just in case NG is pondering what military model to follow up the Y-20 model with.

The announcement of a new B737-600 is pretty disappointing. If we are talking about shorty aircraft, why not consider the A318? I'm guessing equally few liveries as the B737-600, but not yet available in 1/400 scale.

Of course, my selfish desires for an A318 is for Frontier liveries.
