Default 1/200 Boeing Airliner Prototypes in House Colours

Hi Guys -

Picked up these eight models recently, and would love to know more about them...I believe they are Boeing "In House" models, made by the company's model makers?

Isn't it quite rare when models like these have landing gear affixed to them? They also have under belly stand mounts, but no stands are included.

The gear struts are made out of very strong steel rod.

Thanks!

Christian

I was tired of the 757 and 767s two weeks ago. All eight models are for sale. I'll be listing them shortly.

About 35 years ago I visited the Boeing Factory in Seattle and of course arrived on the only day there were no tours. The nice lady opened up the gift shop for me and I purchased two models in house colours that day. They were 1:200 scale, solid resin and had pull/stick in landing gear. They were pretty nice models and I'm sure were only available from Boeing directly. These models of yours remind me of those models.

Sadly they were stolen from me a few years later when my u-hual trailer full of my stuff went missing overnight during a move.

Great info on the models; sounds like that's exactly what I have here, thanks. I've been quite curious about the story behind them. I purchased these from the estate of a recently deceased Boeing engineer. He worked on the B-2707 and 737 programs. I'm sorry about the theft, I hear you there.

What a "MAJOR FIND" those are. You may be the only person on the planet that has that exact combination of models.

Some of those models look a lot like IMC models that have been worked on or customized by someone at Boeing long ago. Boeing had an Inhouse staff of model makers on hand back in the day. The giveaway is the stick landing gears.. IMC was a Dutch company just like Wooster and today's Flight Miniatures. I have seen several of those models posted as IMC's but never as a one piece model...Very nice collection.

I wonder if they might be old one piece Air Jet Advance Models. I think they could have been easily adapted by the retailer, Boeing? to take basic ‘single stick’ landing gear, just a theory. I do have some old plastic IMC models which have very simple stick like landing gear with little rubber tyres, which just push into little holes underneath. The models I have are three Fokker F28s two Linjeflyg and one Air UK, and two Boeing 727-200s, both Sterling Airways, they’re all over 35 years old now.

Thank you for the sympathy- but the situation made it easy for them. I was moving my whole house from one rural area to another and rented a u-haul style trailer. The first two loads of the day was the heavy furniture and appliances when I had help. I left the boxed stuff to last so I could do it myself without any help as it was now very late in the day. I loaded the trailer with all the easy smaller boxes and left the old place at 1:00AM. I was moving about 60 km's away and at 1:30 in the morning I heard clunking sounds while going down the highway. I stopped to investigate and noticed a red glow from below the hitch on the bumper. Turns out the folks who I rented the trailer from installed the trailer ball and never tightened the ball onto the bumper. The nut worked itself off and the glow was from the friction of the threads rubbing on the bumper every time the trailer experienced a bump. Im so lucky the trailer stayed on the bumper.

Being so late I decided not to try to call for help and thought I will just park this trailer on the side of the highway in the dark at 2:00 in the morning and just run back into the city and hit a gas station and buy a new ball. Took me nearly 3 hours of searching every 24 hr truck stop and gas station and finally found a ball.
When I returned to the trailer - it was gone along with about $50,000 worth of my belongings. The trailer was found abandoned a few weeks later with all the thieves garbage and old mattresses. My fault for leaving it on the side of the highway in the dark in the country.

Based on the block base of the inlet of the number 2 engine that is a definite characteristic of Air Jet Advance models..Also some old file shots of IMC models with landing gears.

But IMC models snapped apart - these all look to be single injection mould with no parts that separate. If you look at the models in the Boeing archives, they all have similar stick landing gear:

Thanks guys, for all the info! I'm mainly a vintage model kit collector; I love the display models as well, but my knowledge in that arena is anemic at best. Those pics of the early speculative models at the Boeing archive in Bellevue are mouth watering!! If it helps for further identification/clarification, here are underside shots of all eight models. The wheels seem to be made of wood or maybe a resin of some sorts, or perhaps metal, not sure.

Thanks!

Based on the square hole on the bottom of some of the models, it appears those may be heavily modified Air Jet advance models or they copied the Air Jet stands..

The models in the upper two pics, 747-200 and 747SP, have a hexagon-shaped hole to insert the stand.
These are old PACMIN 1/200 models having a plastic stand with a metal swivel attached to the top. That swivel is hexagon-shaped.

Example below:

Having done a couple of Google searches, I’m beginning to wonder if we’ve got some Topping models in this mix somewhere?

Hi craviola990,

Very nice find.

Some of your models were made by Air Jet Advance Models and the others could have been made by PacMin and or Wesco.
