If you're not religiously opposed to plastic, Hogan did that one.

Yes, Hogan did several of the "Cactus" theme planes. Arizona being my favourite.

Every time I see the perfect silhouette of the Boeing 757, something deep inside me wants to punch the guy in the face who decided it was necessary to abort the 757 program. It really is that sensitive to me. Boeing really, really jumped the shark on that call. As much as I adore Boeing and the variety of air frames that they have produced, I cannot and will not ever forgive them for the premature abortion of the slim and exotic 757.

I am glad that the 737-Max has failed miserably. I am glad that hundreds of planes and future orders are at stake because Boeing insists on resurrecting a tired aircraft, pushed well beyond its design limits. Of course, I am sorry that lives have been lost, but Boeing really needs that punch in the face.

The 757 got all of 7 orders from 2000-2005. The shareholders would have punched Boeing in the face if they kept all the space and tooling necessary to be able to continue production of an aircraft that had no orders, rather than converting that line to produce 737's, which had an order backlog in the 1000's, even before the MAX, which also has an order backlog in the 1000's. If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the airlines that concluded they didn't need any more 757's, but calling Boeing's decision to end production an 'abortion' is ridiculous - it was not viable for them to keep making an aircraft that had no takers.

There is a new program by Aviation Partners Boeing (APB, who did the winglet retrofit program for 737s and 757s) to give retrofit nose replacements on Boeing 737 MAX and 777X aircraft. The program puts 757 cockpit windows, nose cones, and forward pressure bulkheads on existing and future production airframes with the intended result being to eliminate induced and parasite drag over and around fore fuselage sections at certain flight envelops. The 757, even though designed in the '80s, has virtually unsurpassed fluid and aero dynamic properties at nearly all stages of flight, from pre-rotation speeds all the way to Mach .97.

The APB Nose Retrofit Program (APBNRP) is set to be adopted by United as well as American Airlines starting with an evaluation phase in Q2 2020, and EIS of the first retrofitted aircraft (most likely MAX 8s, assuming they are no longer grounded) entering service by 2021. This anouncement has the added benefit of avgeeks and 757 fans rejoicing in the fact that 757 noses will be seen on both narrow and wide body aircraft well into the 2050s and beyond. Airliners.net forum is blowing up with this. Really, a cool day for fans of the 757. I think there is already a thread on this in the 1:1 forum, but haven't seen anyone mention it in the 1:200 forum yet. The photoshopped renderings floating around out there look really cool! Boeing has posted an official artist rendering on their Twitter. Have to run now to work, but someone should post that!!

Boeing has lost the extended range single isle segment to Airbus. I don't need to read no cockamamie story, or hear about all the airlines who followed the leader and stuck with a tired machine instead of a superior aircraft.

Sorry, my anger goes to Boeing. End of story. If you wanna call me out on my feelings, go ahead. But my skull is so thick, you'll need a wrecking ball to get through.

Boeing = Punch in the face.

This plane was beautiful. This version is post 911 when America West added the flag over the World Trade Center Twin Towers in honor of those who lost their lives in the attack. They did not want to just remove the towers from the national landscape which was fitting.
