Default A new 737-800 to be done by NG ?

Just revealed, the updated United livery. I quite like it, and would be a great scoop on the new NG 738 mould.

I find the livery plain ugly. I liked their Saul Bass (bold titles), their Battleship grey and the blue tulip but anything post merger (with this ugly Continental globe) doesn't appeal to me.

It's so hideous at the most!

And if United still wants to use the logo of Continental Airlines in it's corporate image than they should use the old meatball logo, which was a much better design IMO..

Absolutely! Still would prefer a blue tulip but the meatball is fine.

I don't hate it, I quite like the tail actually, but the black/dark blue wave doesn't really go with the other blue on the titles/engines. Although I think using that same color would have been too "matchy" as well. I would like to see it using the same light blue that's in the globe. The font for the titles is super boring too - they could have done something better than the old "generic" food packaging look.

Sure hope NG makes this anyway, the GJ mould is workable, but they've been horrible at cockpit printing lately.

Looks like rising blue v2.

Dunno why it's so cool to miss the Tulip (this thread even mentioned the MEATBALL lol) - those are gone for good guys, it's unfortunate but true. The Globe is too ingrained in their brand that dropping it would be very costly and a silly decision overall.

As for the livery itself, I think it's better than the bastardized CO livery and actually looked like UNITED now.

It was a clever play on the 'U' being 'United' with itself - I think people sometimes forget that it's not really a 'Tulip' at all. They could have incorporated that into the U of the billboard titles to make them less boring. But I also understand the feeling that they just needed to move on as well.

They definitely needed to get past the 'cheap hybrid of a 1990's scheme' look.
