Default My 300th 1/400 model - Aeroclassics.....

Hey all,
After nearly 13 years of collecting I've officially reached a milestone I never thought I'd reach when I first started, my 300th model!! This is a model that seemed to have been released under my radar, a search for it here and nothing can be found, no release notes/announcements, no photos even from some of the veteran collectors which is why I was lucky to have found it at a retailer and managed to tick it off my wanted list without having to dish out an absorb sum of money ($70 AUD with shipping). My kudos to Mall of Diecast for the model. This was actually my 2nd attempt at purchasing it as the first shop I tried sent me an email about a week after ordering that the model was broken and that they'll refund me, not the best response time to messages!!

One of my favourites in the collection now, thanks Andrew for not forgetting about the Aussie stuff.
Enjoy the photos!

And here it is with her brethren:
The Australian and TAA A300's are the 2 main holy grails of my collection.
VH-TAI (gemini jets) was one of my first models I purchased when I was 12!

Congratulations on reaching the landmark 300th model in your collection. Now on to the 400th!

You must've been asleep at the wheel back in July 2015 when the model was released. Here's the announcement on this forum from 15th July of that month's Aeroclassics:
https://www.diecastaircraftforum.com...announced.html

Also announced on 400SH same day too:
https://www.400scalehangar.net/forum...-for-July-2015

It doesn't appear in the DAC database as at some point prior to July2015, it stopped being updated. Neither in the Wings900 database as they are essentially one and the same going back to when they were under the same ownership. It does however appear in the DIMA database: https://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/db/model/70830

I'm happy to say I was paying attention and have one

That's a tough one, I wish I could remember!
I bought my first models at Hobbyco, Sydney. I have a list of some which could've been my first 1/400 models.
I reckon it could've been the JQ A330, NZ/QF 787's.

My first model could've been a 1/500: VH-VXB, BOAC DH106 or VH-OJB. I recently just sold some of these on eBay.
Here's a picture of my 1/400's back in 2008.

Thanks Dave! My end goal is to have 400 total, because anymore is too hard to manage and keep track of. Plus, it matches the scale.
I'm just glad I didn't have to pay this price for it:

It's a rare one! IMO I reckon the Air Niugini A300 is one of the rarest, hard to find models out there, as they never seem to appear on eBay. It is very high on my wish list.

Congrats mate! 300 is a fantastic achievement.

May this year marked 20 years of collecting for me and I'll never forget my first, a Dragon Wings Qantas 747-400 VH-OJA and despite amassing over 400 models since, OJA still has pride of place on display as Model #1.

The Air Niugini is still elusive for me too.

I can't get enough of the colours on it! It's a real shame that it's the only Air Niugini 1/400 model made because the fleet of these aircraft would be an eyecatcher. The 707, A310 and 757. Plus the 767 and 737's that wear the less exciting new colours.

I have a custom 767 that I got off of Ebay a while back, and even though that livery is less exciting than then A300 (which I paid a borderline reasonable price for), they still look good together. I would post a pic but they are packed up for my move...

An Air Niugini Fokker F-28 is an obvious choice too. Several of them spent over 20yrs in the fleet.

I assume it is the huge bird of paradise artwork that makes the Air Niugini A300 so popular. It is certainly why I got mine all those years ago. Did any other types in their fleet wear this scheme?

Congratulations on your 300th! What a beautiful model.

I don’t think I’ll venture into Australian as I’ve never taken it, but it looks such a classic. I do have fond memories of Ansett as they grew into their international routes in the 90’s though and one of the favourites in my collection being the VH-ANA 744 in Sydney 2000 colours.

Thanks man! Yeah these Australian Airlines models are quite a niche.
