Default No Love for the Gunships?

I know that there has been AC-130s made by Corgi and other various lower quality model producers in the past, but why has no one dared to make a solid 1:200 diecast AC-130? I am dying for a Gunship from any of the vast companies that make 1:200 C-130s.

With so many producers processing the tooling for the -130H and J why has no one made one? The AC-130 seems to me at least to be "close enough" to be made in diecast. I would be incredibly happy with a -U "U-boat" (Just a C-130H) or the new -J Ghostrider.

Gemini Jets P-8 brought me hope as that plane required entirely new tooling, but why no Love the Gunship? Any idea?

I am totally bias in my affection for the Spooky. The Ghostrider was the second military plane I ever had the fortune to ride on. I got to fly on an AC during a live-fire exercises in the Florida Panhandle. Riding on that machine of death was without a doubt one of the coolest things I have ever done. You could pretty easily imagine my dumb smile as we pulled 3.5Gs in the middle of thunderstorms over the Gulf of Mexico. I was instantly hooked, and I am currently in a commissioning program. I have every desire to end up as an 11SX in the USAF after my experiences at AFSOC.

Dunno, 1/200 isn't my scale so I've never paid much attention. I pressume they'd sell well but perhaps it's simply a case of there being easier money to be made.

Now if lazy old Corgi would give us a proper 1/72 AC-47, or 1/144 AC-130 I'd be very interested - provided that they didn't stuff it up.

Best of luck.

OTOH, even a quarter-respectable AC-47 with a closed door will probably sell ok - at least better than some of their dumber livery ideas.

more likely whatever future that mould has is waiting for the next major dday anniversary to squeeze out a few more of the same old same old.

there is a Japanese (?) brand S14 that builds 1/144 models, i.e. F-14, MH53. They have released the AC-130U Spooky II gunship. Not sure if your distributor have this brand. They are also releasing a very cool stand that looks like a robotic arm holding the gunship.

I'm still debating whether to get one myself. Check out the link below which is posted by one of the distributors in China. Nice guy and I buy some models from him.
