Default Low Observable Paint Schemes

I have been looking for a 1/72 F/A-18E or F in a low observable paint scheme. It seems like most manufacturers like doing CAG birds or flashy commemorative paint schemes. Don't get me wrong, I like looking at them, but I prefer more of what you typically see in service. I do really like the F/A-18F 100 years of Naval Aviation in the digital camoflage. I wish HM would do that one. Anyway I settled on the upcoming HA5115 since I can't find HA5110. I'm just curious what others think.

I was curious about that one, but I couldn't tell if the quality was up to HM standards. Still tempted though.

whoa holy hell. That thing looks like an early 90's virtual reality sprite that is nothing but polygons. If you spun that plane around like a top then you could probably cause someone to go blind.

It's weird how that digital-fractal camoflage works. Supposedly it breaks down the eyes ability to focus on it with background clutter and you perceive depth where there is none, so you look past it. Doesn't disappear well against a solid sky, but flying low over the ocean seen from above, maybe? Probably took forever to paint and someone probably went blind doing it!

Thanks, my brother took that at Kelly on a field trip with his elementary school class. I wish I could have seen it in person. I'm working on a Flickr account, so I will try to post those photos soon.

I’m sure this modeler, below, had a tough time (assuming the were not full body or full sections decals .....

I don't think they were since he built it in two different scales. Darn impressive modeler. I know very good modelers who won't tackle those type of schemes and just buy the diecast version instead.

I'm assuming the military also paints these schemes instead of using some kind of wrap?

If you're looking for a low viz super hornet, you can't go wrong with HA5105
https://hobbymastercollector.com/HA5105.html

It has everything you want plus it's a Su-22 killer. I have it and love it to death

I really like HA5105 (Super Hornet SU-22 killer) but I can't find it anywhere reasonable. I have HA5115 (F/A-18E Vigilantes) on order. It is a low observable scheme but also has markings in remembrance of the pilot who was died in the"Star Wars Canyon".

Thanks for the pics of the Witty Wings "100 Years of Naval Aviation". It looks like they really did a nice job on that model. I have scene the decal set for detailing a plastic model kit. Reminds me of the "Aztec" decals I did on my Battlestar Galactica reboot model. It took forever and some patience, but it was easier than I thought.

I agree that we need more low observable paint schemes. But what I'll also say is we need more F18's period!! C's D's and Supers!! Plus so many US Navy/ Marine squadrons to do still!!
