The box has arrived and I'll try and get to posting something in the next few days, but it might have to wait until the weekend - sorry.

Until then I can say that nobody has guessed correctly in this thread. Both are on the smaller side and one is a trijet. Not being a 1:200 collector I have no idea whether they will be popular or not but they look pretty nice. Way outside of my collection criteria however.

That's enough clues for now

Both are on the smaller side...smaller than a 727 or Trident?
Yak 40?
Yak 42?
Falcon 50?
Falcon 9000?

If they released a Volga-Dnepr An-124 I’d definitely buy a Volga-Dnepr An-124
If they released a CCCP Aeroflot Il-62 I’d definitely buy a CCCP Aeroflot Il-62
That is all

Edit...ok I didn’t see the smaller jet release...

I imagine it will be a Falcon bizjet and perhaps a Tu-134?

I’m in for a trident or three if that’s what one of the new moulds turn out to be, but I would be surprised if the market would support it.

There is no need for a 717 - the amount of liveries is pretty limited.

I see on the model DB that NG made a C919 in 1:200, so I wonder if one of the new moulds is a COMAC ARJ21?

I guess the only other that fits the description from RStretton is a Yak-42?

Not sure if either would be a Big-Seller but NG has made a significant number of CRJ's in Chinese liveries - so I would assume they're making it for the domestic market.

I'm guessing the Yak-42 because the Yak-40 (please correct me if wrong) is not flown by the military or other in China.

You guys in 1:200 scale are a tough crowd . Over in 1:400 its an endless parade of Boeing and Airbus modern widebodies so anything else is positively thrilling! Anyway the first of the new moulds has just been announced in a separate thread.

Think Bizjets not airliners...

Just saw a post on Facebook, one of the moulds is a Gulfstream G550.

https://www.yesterdaysairlines.com/m...zjets-pt1-g550

Makes me think the other one is also a biz jet.

I'm sure there are some nice possibilites but not an airline
i think NG may not have the tooling for larger scale models to be tampo printed. This could be the reason why we may not see anything in the larger scales for a while.
Lets see what 2nd one is

Well they have a liscence for the 757 in 1/400 - do you need to ask for a liscence twice to use it for both scales?

No they do not but licensing appears a secondary concern for them.

Looks like they are both BizJet mould, one G550 and one something else. Did not see that one coming! Fair play to NG, though I would love to see some bizjets in 1:400 also as they simply do not exist currently.

I am in no way an official spokesperson and I have never spoken with NG about licensing. With that proviso out the way I meant they appear to care most about producing quality models and less about paying third parties for something they don't need anyway.

Ultimately licensing serves no purpose to the collector so I'm bemused that some collectors think it has any importance or relevance at all.

I totally agree with you about licensing issues, it serves no purpose and is a pure money grab, but also disagree on collectors..I don't think any collector out there cares or gives a rats a** about the licensing of a model and they could care less that one particular company pays out thousands in royalties and licensing fees quarterly to airlines and the manufacturers. Sadly the minute that company stops paying, the cease and desist letters will start pouring in..

I don’t think licensing is a pure money grab. It is reasonable to expect compensation if another party wants to use your intellectual property for profit.
