Default KLM Concorde model

I have the below item currently for auction and am wanting to know more about it. It appears KLM never flew Concorde

It appesrs to be possibly a KLM agents model for his desk. It is an old model. If you could tell me anything about it or point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

It is 2ft by 1ft in size and is currently on ebay*

Wow, what a rarity! My own theory on its origins is that it’s either made by the French company Maquette d'etude et d' Exposition Aubervilliers, who made many early Concorde models. Westway Models in the UK also made Concorde models back in the 60s and 70s featuring many liveries of airlines that never bought the type. Just my theory. Good luck with the sale!

Huge thanks re Westway sticker. the sticker is ripped and only said "tway" lol. tried searches on lots of words ending tway and the words concorde model. Ive now emailed Westway so wait to see what they say. I will no doubt update the auction description if they can shed further light. Huge thanks

The trouble with being partially sighted is that you sometimes miss things, a damn nuisance at times, didn’t see the eBay link.

Absolutely a rare collectors item!

KLM never ordered the Concorde, they decided for the Boeing 2707 instead in 1969. Before that date they did have an interest in supersonic flight as did many other airlines.

CONCORDE SST :ORDERS

Looking at the model and the final Concorde which took flight, this model dates back to the "interest" period. I think it was not fully developed yet and was maybe used as part of a sales proposition to KLM. I doubt it ever made it to a KLM ticket office.

I have recieved this from Westway models ...... Dear SIr

i cannot tell you much about the model you have it was a very long time ago when it was made and sorry to say most of the guys that worked on that and other Concorde models are no longer with us.

what i can tell you is yes it is a westway model made in west London, your model would have been made 1964/67,* and one of 3 to 5 models, every Airline that was thinking about buying the plane had models of the plane with there Livery on it, TWA, Panam, Qantas, Lufthansa, KLM and so on. a lot of the models were payed for by BAC/ Aerospatiale, there were a lot made but i think there are not meny around now.

i am sorry but that is about all i can tell you, good luck hope your model sell's well.

Good to see that response from Westway. Gives a little background to your model. Good luck with your sale

Hi Jon Shoo,

It's truly a very unique model.

Am sure that it will find a new home soon.

Thanks for sharing the pics of it.

Regards, Robert

Jon,

The San Diego Air & Space Museum does not disagree with the information you have already received and has nothing more to add.

You have a rare promotional model.* Good luck with your sale.
