Default Why has this never been made in 1/400 ?

Qantas operated 22 Boeing 737-400 over a twenty one year period from late 1993 to late 2014.

The 737-400 was the main aircraft type used by Qantas on all domestic routes over this period.

I along other Australian collectors are surprised that although this is a very important aircraft in Australia’s history it has never been made in 1/400 scale.

Phoenix did produce a 1/200 version may years ago but for whatever reason never a 1/400.

There are a number of versions that could be made in 1/400 due to the time the aircraft was with Qantas.

1) The Australian Airline with 75th logo version
2) The Australian Airline version
3) The spirit of Australia version
4) Spirit of Australia Version
5) Qantas New Zealand
6) Qantas Freight

Would a manufacturer with a 737-400 mould please consider making these very important models.

I’d be very interested in a freighter version that they now operate.

Does anyone actually have an active 734 mould at the moment?

Lots of 737-400 models that could be made that I would imagine there would be a decent amount of demand for. One for the future of NG perhaps?

The Gemini 1/400 mould is quite excellent actually.

GJ will start cranking out 737-400s really fast once NG or someone else announces they will start producing one.

GJ will also fix their 747-400 engine pylon issue once someone other than Phoenix announces they will start cranking out 747-400s.

PHX just released two Thai 734, so I guess it meets your criteria.

Not exactly a criteria, but the crux of my question.

Which is answered though, thanks.

I'm surprised we don't see more 734s and for that matter 735s released. There are plenty of 733s about. Oh well.

British Airways had a big fleet of 737-400s - not one made in 1/400!

Apart from the two Utopia tails by Gemini and one union flag by Gemini. But I agree, there are many outstanding, especially a Landor of course!

Would love to see a Qantas 737-400 in the 80s/90s livery. Aeroclassics did a great job with their 737-300.

I would have thought both Qantas and Landor BA 734s would be hot sellers.

Given that these are both definitely in the territory of GJ I would also have thought they would have been released long ago. Back in the days when GJ was more adventurous.

Honestly I feel like there are many non-NG and MAX 737s that haven't been made, with the Classics being most affected. Granted, I haven't been digging too much and I'm not exactly the oldest model collector so I may have missed some examples of the past, but I feel like a majority of Classics haven't been built in 1:400
