Default AA33618 Tornado GR4

I have just ordered Corgi's AA33618 1/72 scale GR4 Tornado from Flying Mule to add to my collection. My 2 other Tornados, a GR1 & F3, are very good & this GR4 looks to be equally so.

It is shown as GR4 ZA459 of 15 Squadron during Operation Ellamy in 2011.

Researching this I can find no confirmation 15 Sqn was involved in Ellamy, by 2011 they appeared to have become the Tornado OCU. I see no mention of Ellamy in Wiki on the squadron's bio etc & the Tornado component of the EAW seems to have been drawn from 9 Sqn.

Was it a case of 15 Sqn aircraft such as ZA459 being added to make up the numbers but flying as part of 9 Sqn or am I missing something?

I seek some clarification from the experts out there. Thanks.

Tough nut to crack ... I'll go with the loaner theory from No.15 (or XV) Squadron to No. 9 Squadron in assisting with Operation Ellamy for now...

Planes were a shared operation....

Kind of a nut cracked.....still not easy to find a direct tie-in, in text, to mentioning No. 15 Squadron at Ellamy, although the pictures captions and dates of pictures taken seem to indicate so....for sure No.9 was there.

Good luck to anyone finding the elusive tie-in
