I recall that Boeing refused to give the Lufthansa 748-Retro a polished belly, saying that the aluminium alloy is different from the old 747s and hence needs an anti-corrosion varnish.

I thought the Gemini 757 mould was pretty good. The only problem was, that they didn't make use of it enough lately.
The 767 though had a constant nose shape problem.

Bummer. Longhaul, I fly through FRA mostly. 747's eco seats are tight and the 779 doesn't seem to offer much more comfort either.

Agreed, the landing gear is excellent, but the model seems to have some flaws. For example, the silver painting line above the cargo door is pretty sloppy.

True, there's always room for improvement, the 757 mould isn't perfect and quality has lately decreased.
Yet, its pretty much on bottom of the list of moulds that need a remake.

Well, the Jc/Gemini 757 mould is one of the best moulds around, there is nothing much to improve (the 767 needs a better nose though!).
I'd rather like to see them make the CRJ 700/900.

I suspect the driving force behind livery changes aren't the airlines itself, but the diecast manufactures.

It's not shaking, it's rolling. Rolling is a very easy command in creating a CGI animation, just move the object around an axis.
Making the plane shake or even making the wing tips flutter in CGI...
