Re: Airbus A380: The Death Watch Begins!

The A380 realistically has been dead for a few years now with only the larger EK orders supporting it. SQ has a few of it's earlier frames coming off lease soon and I expect those will find homes...

Re: the B 777-9

I think what we'll see going forward is a fewer number of airlines operating the 779s but with large fleet numbers and more airlines operating the A351 with smaller fleet numbers. I'm excited to...

Re: the B 777-9

I think we'll see the order book ramp up once we get a bit closer to EIS. The A350-1000 is shaping up nicely but the 779 is really the only upcoming aircraft that can replace 77W and 744 missions. ...

Re: TSA and long lines at US Airports

Don't do much flying out of US airports, but returned home through JFK on CX a few weeks ago and expected a long queue. Though despite a fairly busy night time departure bank, security was quick. ...

Re: Egyptair MS804 Paris to Cairo missing

The fire theory seems to be gaining some traction, based off the released data it reminds me of Swissair 111 in some ways.

Re: Emirates would buy more A380s even if new version shelved

I'd have to imagine these would be ordered to replace their older frames and leased aircraft when those run out.

Re: $26,000 worth of goods stolen from man's carry-on during flight

The story seems very shady. Supposedly was travelling to Hong Kong on business with all this absurd amount of cash yet was flying in economy class. Just seems a little odd to me.

Re: Does anyone like the base model of certain aircraft more than later models?

I'm starting to like the dimensions of the 788 whereas for the longest time I much preferred the 789.

re: the B 777-9

The statement of bigger windows is often misleading. The inner window panel might be "larger" but the outer window will likely be the same dimensions as the 787.

Re: B757-300 & b767-400

One of the biggest drawbacks of the 764 was that it could only carry specifically designed containers in the cargo hold due to the design, thus making it far less attractive to fleet planners looking...

Re: Airbus A340-500/600

The 3 CX frames became the Hainan frames when the lease wasn't resigned. They severely underperformed and had no real future in the fleet anyway. They were leased as a stop gap while they waited on...

Re: Air Canada 763 and A333 replacement by 787?

Most of the 767s will be moved over to Rouge whilst the oldest frames will slowly be phased out as the remaining 787s enter the fleet. The A333s should be around until at least 2018-2019. As for...

Re: Air France-KLM Drops Order for Two Airbus A380s

AF doesn't really even need the 779, I'd imagine the largest aircraft they will operate post A380 will be the A350-1000. Their route network doesn't really support an increase in capacity and a high...

Re: Air France-KLM Drops Order for Two Airbus A380s

I don't think you can propose a relationship between this news and pointing that towards the demise of VLAs. Air France shouldn't have ordered the aircraft in the first place and are simply making a...

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Special Livery 747

I think Wunala Dreaming was a cut above any other special livery ever adapted to any aircraft. I was fortunate to fly on it's second iteration VH-OEJ a 744ER back in 2006 between SYD-LAX.

Re: BA 744 3 Engine Ferry thru Toronto

The frame is G-CIVIC in the OneWorld livery, I flew on this bird back in 2012. Apparently engine damage was caused by bird ingestion on final approach.

Re: EK starts to retire first B777-300ER in 2016

That will leave EK with a simplified fleet of A380s & 77Ws. The A330 fleet will be gone by the end of 2017. They will likely place an order for either A350s or 787s soon which could enter the fleet...

Re: Boeing says NO to Emirates for changes to Dreamliner B787-10

I'm expecting EK will likely order 7810s, but they are likely studying the A350 for those missions where the 7810 can't operate at max payload due to the hot/high conditions out of DXB.

Re: Boeing says NO to Emirates for changes to Dreamliner B787-10
