Re: Evie Air Base- The Makeover

This is my favorite diorama thread ever! I like 1/200 military far more than my 1/400 commercial airliners. You might want to look up Tomytec Car Collection; I think they are the best N scale cars.

Re: 29000 with Custom GSE Display

Very cool. I wish someone made finished 1/400 people. I have those painted Eduard metal sheet ones but have been too lazy to cut them out and glue to plastic sheets.

Re: Basic question about die cast

I had a Gemini AN124 change color on me; the white turned off-white/yellowish in a few years with almost no light exposure, but all my others look the same including other white Geminis. Bad batch...

Re: Which is the story BEHIND your collection?

I built model kits as a kid then collected gashapon 1/144 tanks as an adult. I knew there were 1/144 airplanes but they look cheap, but stumbled into 1/200 military that looked much better than the...

Re: Crossing the 2000 mark

I have only ~220 split between 1/400 and 1/200. Oddly this hobby got me into designing 1/400 vehicles and I have now designed more than I have diecast planes; takes up less space too.

Re: 60 years on - the Antonov AN12 is still operat

I have the 1/200 versions of the AN2 and AN24 and they are great models, but I would sell them if nice 1/400 versions were made. Space is a big issue for me since I collect other things like action...

Re: Still waiting years for an open nose cargo 747

It would be nice to have more planes with opening parts. I'd be happy with more plastic parts as long as there is more detail and the parts don't warp or discolor after a few years. At least we...

Re: Cost of Developing a Mould

I would guess 50-100 hours just to make a CAD model never mind the cost of molds. 3D printing is still far away in detail to reach the smoothness of a mold.

Very cool work. I designed a 3D model for a loader too, but have yet to buy it off Shapeways to see how it fits this plane.

Re: 1/400 Airport Fire station First Look!!

Looks warped and has nicks in it. I guess this is 3D printed. Will the final production be 3D printed or injection molded? Nice to see new diorama accessories, keep it going.

Re: My collection

Pretty nice. I'm sure many are interested in what cabinet that is with that mirror and all. I would want to drill more holes in to add shelves but the extra weight might be too dangerous.

Nice, I didn't know JC made some new jetways so ordered one myself.
Print some vertical backgrounds or buildings to place the jetway against to complete the scene.

Re: PHX vs JC 787-9 Round 2 - Glossy or not?

I would get a thin tip Sharpie and try to cover the scratch. Alcohol wipe will remove it if you mess up.

Yes, matte finish is more realistic although I still like my glossy PHX models.

I think the only one in demand is the 747 SCA with the space shuttle on it since no one has made a newer one. Hopefully NG decides to make this set in the future.
