Re: Fairly $$$ Corsair in 1/30

Yes, you’re right. It does look like it’s been fixed on this photo.
Does anyone know if the location of the aerials are correct? In a promo photo it appeared that there was an aerial running from...

Re: Fairly $$$ Corsair in 1/30

I agree with the oversimplified hinge - especially at that price point. Also, the top canopy looks inaccurate. It should be a solid metal half circle plate... whereas in the photo it looks like it’s...

Re: Model of the year candidates as we near the halfway point?

Here are mine:

1) Air Commander Showtime - just got it yesterday and it is truly superb! Precise stencilling and finish brings this model to another level.
2) Air Commander Silver Kings - also a...

Re: Caliber Wings (Actual photos)

It isn’t right that CalWing gets paid to learn on the job IMO. To let those awful file marks and rough edges on the wing gloves slip by like this on the “finished” model isn’t about a lack of...

Re: HOBBY MASTER 1:48 Messerschmitt BF 109E-3 "Werner Molders"

This might just be my first HM 109. Love the colours but kind of wished the canopy frame wasn’t as thick.

Re: Calibre Wings F-14

Wow! This is beyond atrocious. How can this get past any QC system?
Is the price to pay for moveable vanes? If they can’t be done right, then just don’t do them! Very disappointing indeed.

Re: Calibre Wings F-14

Yes, I noticed that too. Comparing with frontal view photos of the real plane, the wing sleeve should curve downwards and the wings should droop a little. But at least, the air intakes, although a...

Re: Group shots: Canadian Collection

There are two Canadian planes in the bunch: Billy Bishops’ Nieuport and Maclaren’s Camel.
The other planes are Barker’s Camel, Guynemer’s Spad, Nungesser’s Nieuport 17 and Mannock’s SE.5a

I’ll...

Thanks Jean-Pierre,

Love the SPAD and this one is particularly well executed with the emblematic stork on the fuselage.

It’s certainly one of my favourites in my entire collection.

Interesting. Would like to add this one but I really hope they fix the colours on this one...not like the latest JEJ issue.
HM’s earlier MK IXs were more on target colour-wise IMO.

Re: Matt vs Gloss Finish

The key word here is “scaling” effect. That, IMO, is why satin or matt finishes lend 1:72 models a much more realistic look.
