Default Pacmin Model Worth

Hi - I have the opportunity to purchase a Pacmin model of a Hawker 4000 (I think) corporate jet. I don't know what scale it is, but it's 12.5" long. The price is $50, and it's new in the box. Can anyone tell me if that's a good price for the model?

Thank you.

$50?? That is a bargain! Pacmin's are one of the best models you can get (if not the best).

Thank you for the replies...I didn't know if the model was not worth that much because it's so much smaller than most Pacmins.

That is an excellent price for a Hawker 4000 model. Biz jet prices are all over the ball park. They certainly do not command the resale values that airliners do. Size, customization, popularity of the modeled airframe do count. To give you an idea, if you go to the stores section of the Pacmin website, you can see what the new retail prices are for both Bombardier/Learjet & Gulfstream. What is a $200 new model frequently shows up for $100 or less on ebay.

Thank you... My only concern is the scale...I don't know what scale it is, but it's only 12.5" long. I did go to the Pacmin site, and I could only get into the Learjet site, but they don't list the overall size of the models. I also looked on ebay in the completed section, and there were many corporate jet models that didn't sell. Either way, it seems that I can't go to far wrong for $50.

Well the real Hawker 4000 is approximately 70 feet long with a wing span of just over 60 feet....so I would guess your model represents a 1:72 scale. Unlike airliners, where 1:100 scale is a defacto standard, there is no standard for biz aircraft. Given the size range, models are made in scales from 1:32 to 1:100. Sometimes even odd scales are found. Pacmin offers Learjets in 1:55, apparently at Lears request. The newest Gulfstream, the G650 has a wing span of 100 ft. The 1:100 model will be 12 inches. The 1:48 will be just over 2 feet. Hope this helps.

I finally got the model - it's of a NetJets Hawker (not sure of the model). The weird thing is the base is not the standard Pacmin walnut w/ metal upright - it's plastic. The other unusual thing is the tail number seems to be a decal. Is anyone familiar with Pacmins with plastic bases? Either way, it's still a very nice model (new condition).

well it must be a plexi-glass stand. Pacmin doesnt make plastic stands for any of its models AFAIK.

btw i recently found a PACMIN Jet Airways B738 model with the traditional metal-walnut stand for 40$. looking fwd to gettin it soon...

Why don't you post a picture. Might help with identification.

I looked up the tail number, and it's a Hawker 800XP, owned by NetJets. I took some photos of the model, but I'm having trouble uploading it.

Where did you purchase a (1:100?) PacMin Jet AW 738 for $40? Ebay or private person in India? $40 is a lot of money in that part of the world and some people don't know to distinguish PacMin from Skymarks.

Well hopefully you'll take a photo of it, before you put it in the closet and then hard to find later.

Lol, yes take some pics of it as I'd love to see what it looks like. I hope you're not mistaking it with that Risesoon Jetlite 738 you posted pics of before because that has a wood stand very similar to Pacmin models.

@Moin, Le Freakie, Milos: i bought it from a private person here in India. he sold it to me for INR 1600 which comes to even less than 40US$. (i just took it as 40US$ considering 1US$ = 40INR, but it is currently 46INR)

Anyways, as for the model itself, yes it is indeed an original Pacmin, as it has the name written under the stand. Also I know how a typical RS wooden stand looks like and how a Pacmin looks like. So there is no mistaking...!!

As for the pics, as I said I have that I am looking forward to getting it, I will surely post pics after I get it, which will be next month, as it will be hand carried for me from Mumbai next month. Also please note that this model is in the Jet Airways old livery not the new colors...

Well for starters here is one of the pics that the seller had sent, hope if it suffices for the moment...
