Wow - I didn't know Eastern were planning to buy SSTs!

Congratulations to your fine collection focusing on one airline. At least one other person in this forum is doing the same...

Marvelous model. It looks very like the similar two machine set which
British Airways have in their Museum in BOAC colours. I saw it many
years ago. It is the same 1:200 scale as the Revell kit. Pacmin did them
for Boeing as give aways to optionholders. There should be at least 20
different liveries out there!

I dont think he Car would mind...I just reopened the thread after the last post in July this year! Did you get the "inflight" version of this dual kit by Revell? The stand would look great in TWA red.

Some years ago I bought a Revell Pan Am SST kit so I could steal three of the engines for my Eastern Pac Min model shown above. Three engines where missing when I bought that EAL Pac Min model. Unfortunately the Revell engines are different so I was not able to use them. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can acquire replacement engines I would really appreciate it!

Wish I could help Car15...Every six months I email a letter to Pacmin asking them to dig out the mould for the 100, 200, and 300 series airplanes. They just say sorry; can't do that. The moulds are probably long gone. They made a blue 1/50 Braniff swing-wing that would stop you in your tracks. I missed two chances to own it. The first time, (price: 450.00), was when I arrived penniless in NYC just before starting College. The second time,(price 2200.00), was after I arrived penniless in the East Village after College.

I snapped a photo of it in the window of the mid-century store, ie EXPENSIVE, before it disappeared. Here it is:

In storage waiting to see who will offer the highest payout, (ie. what is worth for you to get it out of the barn), or going on display at the (still unbuilt?) EAL museum...so I''ve heard. Wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole after that story.

Where does the line start!

PS- I'm still waiting for the Eastern Disney World "If you Had Wings" L-1011 models to show up somewhere!

Those where all of the Eastern corporate models. I remember them when I still worked for EAL toward the end. Someone told me that the present owner was given all of these models plus some memorabilia for nothing. They are too large for my EAL collection but they did have some smaller metal models that I would love to acquire.

I found him years ago. Said he was holding it for the museum to be built in the future, but would consider selling if I offered him the most I would pay. Duh...sure. A friend also got the same run around. Probably a nice guy as a neighbor, but either come up with a number or just say no. I immediately lost interest in his model and getting a custom done if I have to do it myself before handing him one penny. When it comes down it, yes it's desirable, but again, it's just a thing. I've got plenty of airplanes already.

Ah well, you can't win 'em all! Everything happens for a reason.

but back on topic...Can anyone please help Car15 find his replacement engines? My thought is to reverse mould one and cast them in resin. There's some amazing talent on this forum. Perhaps that's possible?

Update: 12/15/09
Confirmed by Pacmin rep today: SST molds are no more.

Thank you! I really appreciate it! I would be willing to pay for the work and whomever can do this can have the PAA SST kit since I have no use for it!

Who is going to get this SST?

Boeing SST Supersonic 36" desk model composite from GE - eBay (item 370308337185 end time Dec-24-09 15:29:51 PST)

Read the questions and answers posted on that auction, they are funny. One guy wanted a bid extension and another wanted a Buy It Now of $99

I saw this a couple days ago. Almost every example, unfortunately has breakage somewhere. The tail on this one has been sanded down and part of an engine intake is missing. The 99.00 offer is the reason I rarely put stuff on Ebay any more.
