Question Huge original AN-24, TU-134, TU-144, TU-154 display models on E-Bay ended yesterday

Here are my unsuccessful bids yesterday...
All are 1:50 scale models, which is exactly my favourite scale !!

Model descriptions were poor and seller not very communicative, so high biddings were risky. However beautiful original masterpieces made for the Soviet export company AVIAEXPORT in their General Representative Office in former East Berlin, close to Checkpoint Charlie (or Grenzübergang Kochstrasse, as it was called in E-Berlin) !

These kind of offers pop up only every 2-3 years on E-Bay.
However most of these models are in very poor condition (remember the original shape of my old DM-STC INTERFLUG IL-18 purchased back in 2005) and seller unwilling to reveal more detailed information, nor additional detailed photos. I therefore decided to pass on my offer for above reasons at a relatively low bid...

Here they are :

Sowjetische 2 Motorische Porpellamaschine bei eBay.de: Flugzeuge (endet 01.02.09 23:05:37 MEZ)
AVIAEXPORT AN-24 (or AN-26), no gears, no stand

Flugzeugstandmodell Tupolew 134 ca. 70 cm lang bei eBay.de: Flugzeuge (endet 01.02.09 12:43:07 MEZ) AVIAEXPORT TU-134 (the only one with a rusty stand)

Flugzeugmodell Tupolew 144 Überschall Flugzeug bei eBay.de: Flugzeuge (endet 31.01.09 20:00:06 MEZ) AVIAEXPORT TU-144 no gears, no stand)

Flugzeug Standmodell Ilyushin 62 Verkehrsflugzeug bei eBay.de: Flugzeuge (endet 01.02.09 20:18:02 MEZ)
AVIAEXPORT TU-154 (described here als IL-62...), no gears, no stand

Sowjetischer Hubschrauber MI 8 bei eBay.de: Flugzeuge (endet 01.02.09 23:28:33 MEZ)
AVIAEXPORT MI-8 (the only one with gear down)

What would you have done ???

PS. Am still looking for original MALEV Hungarian Airlines display models from the 60s and 70s...

The same as you did! That Tu134 looks to be the same blank as my LOT example with the same stand, in fact my 1/50 IL86 has that stand also. You did the right thing.

OK... I am obtaining now a solid model of the same AVIAEXPORT TU-134 (1:50) made out of the same mould as your LOT TU-134 was manufactured. Had this gooddie long on hold at a friend's place in Berlin. Pics to follow.
I am sooooooo greedy for these pieces. Can't help it...

None of them appear to me as a "must have".

The chopper Mi-8 may has been the most interesting piece with rather low end price, but not a real bargain.

It's usual for non-expert sellers to provide as less information as possible to avoid later problems and claims because of "incorrect" description. Basically they want you to buy a "photograph" with some model behind. If you can't identify the model clearly, one can go until a certain bid, but for sure not to the level these models have finally achieved.

I guess, you as an expert, were correct to pass them then.
