Default Very big 787 models!

My friend from Vietnam 've just sent me the photos of his 2 new B787 models. They're hand made from resin, printed.... Their scale is 1/30.... I will order one for me when i back my country, and hang it in my hobby room...
Enjoy!

In all seriousness and no offence intended, please don't bother with them. They're horrible and grossly inaccurate.

A very generalised sweeping statement if I might say. There is no doubt that Pacmin are top rate model makers and I have many of their models, but they are by no means the "only" ones capable of turning out good/accurate large scale models. I have large scale items in my collection from AMI-Phelps, Space and Westway that are every bit as good as dear old Pacmin.
As far as accuracy is concerned I have seen many large models over the years in airline offices and private collections that have not always been scale replicas of the full size aircraft. Certainly in the earlier years these models were intended simply as advertising aids and nothing more. Compare any of these models to the work of Brad Shinn and then you'll see accuracy.

Win-arc, if that 787 is a model you like then buy it and enjoy it, after all isn't that why we all collect them in the first place?

YES, with good reason you're right:
CONQUEST MODELS IS No.1 FOR ALL SCALES

Here's my 1:100 Lufthansa A340-600 D-AIHF by Sir Peter Jackson's "Conquest Models".
See the quality and accuracy difference between Conquest A340-600 and Graphideco Air France A340-300. Beyond all comparison!

I have two big scale models only: 1:20 PacMin JAT-Yugoslav Airlines B-737-3H9 and 1:50 Airplast-Milano JAT DC-10-30.
733 is average, but D10 is not accurate, but enjoy other JAT old models 1:50 Caravelle and DC-9-32, and 1:72 ATR-42.
The FANTASTIC 1:36 AF 744 I've seen on art-aviation Site.

yea probably

for big scales like these, i expect nothing but details details details. theres enough working room! so when i see large scales without landing gears at least i cringe.

I was surprised to see gears on the AF 744. I was looking at the privately-owned models for sale in the link you provided above, and noted most if not all of the large scale models are gearless.

Thanks guys for their comment! It's very useful. I changed my mind after read them and see the Brad build models. I'd rather order the 1/200 accurate model from Brad than get the big scale inaccurate...
Kai, How much for Air France B747 1/36??? And how I can order the one like this (but not Air France livery). I guess it's valued not less than xxxx$....

Really nice models ! I like both
I am not so much into those "new" models like PacMin, Atlantic Models and others, because for a very good reason I am not so sure if they are really "Made in the USA" as they claim ... I have bought and sold some chinese Resin models (unfotunately with the wrong companies). When you see a model on a chinese webside, the same model on an "western manufacturer webside", you ask the chinese for a quote for 50pcs of that model and they tell you : "Oh no, we cannot offer, because we are producing them exclusively for another company!" ... made me wonder somehow.

So anyway ... you guys should really take a look at Milos`s collection and the webside www.aviationmodels-online.com ... just makes you say "wow" !

I personally prefer "old" vintage models : Topping, Precise, RoLen ... or the "master" Matthys Verkuyl and later IMC or any kind of "factory models" or the "good, old" britsh model makers.
I was not able to purchase a Vogelaar model yet and it seems that Vogelaar closed his business ...

But thanks anyway to Milos and the other guys who present their models on websites to the public and share their beautiful hobby with other people ! Great work !

For those of you who are interested : This is my scalemodel page : www.vfw614-jet.de.tl . Still looking for people who want to present their models ... their VFW 614s ...

Enjoy your hobby, guys !!!

As nice as the wheels and tyres themselves are, the landing gear structure could have been much better on a model of this size.

Even so, they do look good.

Someone, probably in Vietnam, was making these larger scale resin models since 2000. They were available (1/50th A320-200 back in 2001) at SGN departure level for around $25. They were hollow and had really bad printed graphics (not decals) or hand paint. They sat on a tripod stand that looked like AMI copy. Everything about them was wrong, but I bought two of them and both sold on eBay for a whopping $250 each - paid for my SIN-SGN-SIN ticket.

most of the large scale aircraft models mentioned here are made from resin. may i ask why no one has ever commented on large scale aircraft models made from wood? i have seen some and know some people who make them from the philippines. you can look at some here.

I own a few wooden models, mostly in 1/100 and 1/72. I'm very happy with the ones I have, although I did shop around quite a bit, before I committed to buy. There are some terrible wooden pieces out there. You can see a lot of really dreadful ones clogging up eBay, along with the unrealistic prices asked for them. There are also issues with the long term surviveability of the models in certain climatic conditions. IMO, the combination of these factors conspire to put a lot of collectors off these models, in most cases with good reason.

That's a stunner! The BBJ version I guess. Do I detect the logo of Jet Aviation in the background?

There are also issues with the long term surviveability of the models in certain climatic conditions. IMO, the combination of these factors conspire to put a lot of collectors off these models, in most cases with good reason.
Yes those are good reasons. You just have to be careful when buying wooden models I guess. If you choose a model from a supplier that is not so good, it may crack especially if it was a rush job. I am sure you also heard the line, "if it is too good to be true, it probably is?", that also happens when they offer it to you at a very low price.

But like some people commented on the big resin model above, it wasn't that accurate. So there are some minor issues there too. I have a few wooden models myself and I have a few favorites among them. If you are looking to place another order, let me know. I will hook you up with the one making it.

Nice B787 model! Before that, I have only seen the Concorde and the B747 version.

Oh sure, there are almost as many bad resin/composite models as there are wooden or plastic ones, as you say, if it looks too good to be true
