Default Nordair fh-227

This model came my way with an apparent crack in the forward fuselage. The nose section was slightly loose as well. Turns out that the model originated as an F-27 and was eventually modified to an FH-227 by cutting the fuselage and inserting a plug. There is no doubt that I got in over my head on this one. That said she is now a Nordair FH-227 and I did the best that I could. Meanwhile check out the old newspapers that were stuffed inside presumably when it was modified.

Now that I like, very nice indeed. I bet there are not many of those about, and look at the date on that newspaper!

I did a similar thing some years ago, albeit in plastic. I needed to turn an old ready built 1/96 scale Frog BOAC Britannia 102, into a series 312 version in Monarch livery. I was working on the restoration of the Monarch ‘Brit’ at Duxford at the time. I cut the 102 into three sections, and inserted two fuselage ‘plugs’ from a second Frog Britannia kit, one forward of the wings, the other aft. Much filling and a full repaint later, project completed. I have to admit I am well pleased with the result, but I’ve no plans to ever repeat the exercise

Neil.
