Default 747 Cutaway Saudi Arabian Airlines

Hi, I’d like feedback on weather I should restore this beauty to its former glory or if it would destroy its charm and value?
And if anyone would know the history of these.
Thanks

restore what??? based on the photos, other then a few scratches on the wing root and minor discoloration that model is near perfect..I would not touch a thing. It is worth a fortune. Great find...

As for its value I would contact Peter Jackson at the following site:
http://www.aviationmodels-online.com/about_us.htm

Im sure he could come up with an accurate estimate. Thanks for posting...

Hi Nate. Please leave her as is. She’s a real survivor, deserves a ‘comfortable retirement’

For value, appears to be a 1/36 scale, I’d value it in its current condition 3500-4800. If it were cleaned up to look like new, 5000-6000.

Do you have a stand? Of not that should be your first priority

Very nice model....I also would leave her as is. It doesnt do any harm to these old models if you can see that they were "in use" and not made new today.
Gives them a bit more vintage look, think the others agree.

As said, the stand will also play a role for the value.
If you like her and you are not really in big need of cash, I wouldnt give her away. Hard find. Only downside, for me personally only, is that she is a "double side" cut away. I like more the one side close and one side opened.
But thats only my personal opinion though.

as others have said, i would leave as is too. i actually prefer these with see through both sides. i have always displayed my models at an angle nose right. so on one sided models, you wouldn't see the interior detail.

Hi Nate,

Very nice model.

As crownvic has previously stated, I would not do anything to this model.

It is indeed a great model find.

Hi Again Nate,

If you need a tripod stand, PacMin offers several for sale to the public:

https://pacminmodelshop.com/collecti...placement-base

Should you need any assistance about mounting the model on a tripod stand, feel free to let me know has have had a few of these same types of models over the years.

Regards, Robert

Wow, dont touch it just as everyone says! This model is a 1/50 scale based on the comparison to the couch. There really isnt much damage to this model at all. An original model is always worth more than refurbished.

i too would put its value between $3500 and $4000.00. Add another $300.00+ if there was a stand. Historically, 1/50 747 non-US carriers in very good condition have a selling price between this range. If you go into US carriers such as United or American, being much much rarer to find in 747 cutaway versions, and are more highly sought after, thus pushing prices just past the 5K mark. Continentals meatball 747 cutaways in 1/72 scale have fetched between $3500 and 5K several years back. I dont even know if the continental exists in a 1/50. Im sure it would surpass the 6K mark if it did exist. Overall this is just my opinion based on my research.
