Hope someone can help, I’d like to know some more about this model. I believe it’s 1/43(?) scale, solid metal Connie. Some reading suggests maybe a Peter V Nelson piece. No damage, TWA logos are barley visible down the fuselage. Also would like to find a suitable (vintage) stand for it. Looks like it has two alignment peg holes and one for a bolt or screw to secure it. Any help much appreciated.
My money is on your model being a Peter Nelson one. Follow the link to this fascinating article detailing various examples of large scale metal Connie models. Scroll around half way down to see the Connie section. This guy also has some amazing Boeing SST models too.
Thanks for the quick replys! It also has a 4 digit number stamped into the belly. Do you know if either Raiseup or Nelson had a production/sequence number list for their models?
Thanks snowghost, yup, four digits stamped into the underside, other decals are long gone and no other identifying marks. Really like that ball mount on your model!
Yup, could be. I’m definitely no expert in die cast but does it looks like those numbers got stamped at time of casting? It may look different had it been stamped by an airline post casting. Wingspan is about 29”, length 30”, it’s solid not hollow so it’s quite heavy.
