1/100 Qantas Formula 1
Creating what was believed to be the first special scheme of the new millennium,QANTAS painted the Boeing 747-400 VH-OJC, with a Formula 1 racing car along the fuselage in time for the first F1 Race at Melbourne in March 2000.
The scheme designed by"Cato Partners of Austrália",also highlights QANTAS´s role as official carrier for the Australian Grand Prix. The work was carried out by" Aviation Exterior" at Portland-Oregon- before being flown to Austrália.
The aircraft was rolled out at Melbourne on 19 January 2000, displaying its generic Formula 1 car, which measures 22 metres in lenght and 5,6 metres high. The car was hand-painted before being digitised on computer, then enlarged fifty times and transferred onto film.
Thirty men worked for sixteen days to paint the whole aircraft, which involved a combination of fifty two decals, weighing 54 Kilogramas, and more than 800 litres of paint.
The aircraft was appropriately named "City of Melbourne".
Here´s the replica, scale 1/100.Hope you like.
