Default 707 clip.

Apologies if some feel that I’ve posted this in the wrong section, but in the end I somehow felt it may be more at home with us ‘antiques’

Short clip, and I emphasise short, of a 707-320 taking off from what looks like a very hot airfield. The sound is just amazing! I’m so pleased that I was a dispatcher when these beauties still plied the airways. Standing at the nose of a 707 on start up, courtesy of an air start trailer, then walking out with the aircraft on pushback is something I’ll never forget. Somehow jetliners seemed more impressive and varied back then.....oh my God...I sound like my father

I love the B707.

Last time I saw one flying was on June 27th,2002 in Calgary when Canada hosted the then G8 meetings. There was a long line of aircraft carrying their countries leaders inside waiting in a long line of aircraft for a departure from YYC. It took almost two hours to depart them all because AF1 departure closes the airport well until after they depart and they are sure he's not returning.

Near the end of the line was an old B707 from Africa. I enjoyed that departure the most. Black smoke and loud. Didn't climb that great but eventually I'm sure they made it across the Atlantic.

The Russian lyushin Il-96-300PU with Putin onboard didn't climb very well either.
Here are some screen grabs from the video I took those two days. Sorry for the poor quality.

Some very nice shots there. I do like the Il96 although I never dispatched one. The poorest climb rate I ever remember from my days ‘on the ramp’ was on the Il86. We had one of the longest runways in the UK at the time, but every Il86 take off was a nail biter The real hot rods were the Spantax Coronados, much noise and smoke! Mind you, the Boeing 720B was an impressive performer for the time.
