Default Goldie's Aircraft Models --> The Complete Thing!

Hey all :-)

it's been quite a while and this being the scale 1:200 section about 75% of my collection has the scale 1:200, but some others scales: 1:72, 1:400 & 1:500, hence why I post it here due to a mixture of scale formats.

Most are civil based but there are some classic scale 1:72's that are all military based.

So here the main display first:

Top are 5 large scale models all being 1:72 from my old model kit days a good 12+ years ago, left to right they are the following:

-----------------------------------------------------------
Douglas KC-10-21 @ 1:72 Skyland Models
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tupolev Tu-22M3 Backfire C @ 1:72 Testors Models
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tupolev Tu-22A Blinder B @ 1:72 Testors Models
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lockheed Sr-71A Blackbird @ 1:72 Monogram Models
-----------------------------------------------------------
North American XB-70 Valkyrie @ 1:72 AMT / ERTL Models

That’s a fantastic collection, some real beauties you’ve got. I also have a 1/72 Valkyrie, made by Westway Models. I’ve recently begun collecting ocean liner models now that I no longer collect aircraft. Any chance of a closer look at the Dutch KC10?

Hey thanks and sure no probs there

That North American XB-70 Valkyrie is a real beauty you got there MSR777

And I'm glad yours has it's corrected decals, I might still have mine, but I think they may have yellowed over time my model is from around 1998 if memory service me well more than 21 years old.
Here some pics of mine compared to my Hobby Master Lockheed F22-A Raptor:

My paint job wasn't great either as I didn't have my know how on how to do it either, I was rather young back then, I just did it to keep my mind off bad memories and I loved building modelkits even they were not all that accurately or neatly painted, they were all parts of my old room's decoration as I hung them up with nylon fishing line from my 3.10 meter tall attic, I do have some pics of that which are these:

That classic WWII planes hung at a cross beam which was the center of the attic room the front half is as large as the rear half and yes I still miss this room rofl

Here that ex-KLM Douglas DC-10-36 which I converted in to a Douglas KC-10A Extender copared to my XB-70 Valkyrie and a Lockheed SR-71 A Blackbird that I build in March of 1986 as my first modelkit ever:

My KC-10A is just lacking the refueling boom, just never could find one at scale 1:72.

Some nice pics! I haven’t built kits since the late 70s (yes, I am that old) Building big ones was always a challenge. I would have liked my Valkyrie to have had the lowered outer wingtips, but I’m very, very happy with the model as is. The KC10 is an eye catcher too!

Either way Scale 1:72 Valkyrie's are extremely hard to come by these days so we should consider us extremely lucky which is awesome right!

After looking at the belly of the Valkyrie it seems it could carry one massive nuclear cruise missile maybe two of them, never could find out what the payload of a Valkyrie would of been or how it would of looked like either though, any idea's?

Here some Valkyrie RC fun from Ben Harber, he did his best with this one:

Here his test flight even it's ending was less fantastic

And here his topic for all his Valkyrie updates

Anytimes guys, still I miss my old modelkit days tho, had over 80 aircraft all scale 1:72, now only 11 of those remain, many were brittle and broke when I moved from the old place to the smaller apartment :X

Can't keep everything I guess.

But the collection I have now surely puts everything to it's rights, even what I had, these new models kind of brought the idea of having a model collection back.
And now that this chapter is also done in my life I can now enjoy it and move on to other things.

But not to worry I'll still be around here lurking and posting in threads you guys make as well, so I won't be going anywhere

I’ve also called it a day collecting aircraft. I’ve been collecting some 1/24 die cast cars of late, along with models of cruise ships. I noticed that lovely model of the cruise ship in one of your pics, very nice! Glad you’re not leaving the forum. I still enjoy seeing and commenting on fellow members models.

Thanks for the kind reply And yea the same here, I just don't have seas of space like some seem to have here :X

And over collecting is just hoarding disease in my vies something I'd always try to avoid, it's all just clutter in the end and clutter doesn't make a collection enjoyable if I have to be honestly realistic, I been there and it''s not pleasant I can tell you, it made me depressed, made me lose the fun in doing anything, all long before me thankfully.

As for here I'll stick around yea. Also good to see you found something else to do What keeps ya happy I'm like, I am more in to rebuilding 3dfx Retro gaming & Multimedia PC"s from 1999 to a round 2002, my golden gaming days as that goes games from 1992 to around 1999, that were the best gaming years of my life and that were the Flight Sim & Space Combat Sim Days as well.

We all have our ways of progressing to other interests see that as a good thing

Well I do have some good news regarding my Boeing 747 collection

Around March of 2020 my father and I will go to a glass cutting company, there we will order 16 glass planks to fit this current cabinet, so there is enough space in each cube for an extra 1:200 diecast B747, so in total there will be 48 B747's @ 1:200 instead of 32, like there is now... well31 are diecast and 1 is PVC, but ya get the idea.

So this means my B747 armada will get a massive upgrade and I will return happily to make new reviews of them 16 upcoming B747 models
At first I thought of adding MD-11's B77's & B787's but my love for the B747 is just greater so as that goes that will be the direction my collection will be going in this second chapter of my Boeing 747 collecting days.
And I might add a few in still not all to certain of that yet, but most likely B747's only they are to me everything anyways.

Sorry for not being on much, that kind of happens when I have no real goals set when it comes to model collecting, but gladly this is about to change, within 5 a 6 months from now, all depending on my budget, rock on DA.C Modelers!

Great collection and display! Glad you have some memorabilia mixed in with the planes. I always enjoy looking at fellow collectors pics and displays! Please post updates once you add the extra shelves.

Thanks for posting the pics and happy collecting!

Great collection Goldleader.
That extra space will come in handy with the nice models flying in these days. Some beautiful 747''s in the pipeline...

Yeah 16 new planks it will be , Q1 maybe Q2 of 2020, but it is possible so 16 extra B747's plenty of choices out there to fulfill that!

Thanks for the kind replies everyone, sorry for not being on much that will change I hope in the future
