A great find, well done. A unexpected acquisition is always welcome! I have an LH 727-100 in the identical livery made by Skyland in 1/50, even has the same design of stand. I believe that stand design was standard to all the Lufthansa display models of the time. Below is an old picture of my 727 taken before my ‘museum’ was outfitted with all new shelving a few weeks ago.

I am really liking that 1/50 scale version....was hoping to come across one of those by Verkuyl someday to go with my LH 707. The "Museum" looks good in this pic...have any pics of the new shelving?

Here’s one or two pics of my new shelving. Still working on the final placings of the models though. The last two show the ‘clutter’ before the new shelving. I’ve since had some concealed lighted fitted on some of the shelves.

Looking good there Neil....are the shelves made of hard (pressboard) or soft (plastic) material? How many square feet of space are you working with? I will now find myself with about 200sq ft to call my hangar space and am trying to figure out my best display space utilization...

Congratulations Neil. Much, much better; I imagine you have been very pleased with the work you are doing.

Now you have more space for new models Neil

Or one could go wild and have MDF custom made shelves, painted ( much more expensive if lacquered), lights or no lights, these are then fit into the wall through metal bars that suspend them, giving them a "clean" look. But we will run out of space, eventually.... and walls! Its your choice in the end!

Thanks Pinto. Yes I’m pleased with how much better it all looks now. But no, no more planes. In fact the first three models of my new interest have arrived already! Models of ocean cruise liners take up much less room

My model airplane collection will likely always be in play, but I am getting very confident where I am now. Now that my eye is wandering, this is what I have started to take a shine with. They fit nicely under the airplanes and add some real character to the displays.

(my apologies for continuing with the hijacking of this thread)

BTW I really love the Verkuyl M404- It is very nice.

That’s a lovely model. What scale is it? I’ve been collecting 1/24 scale die cast US cars for sometime now. I have fifteen of them so far. As you say, don’t wish to hijack M404s thread, so back to the ‘world of wings’

Hi M404,

It's a great looking vintage model.

Combats on your new addition.
