Default 1/100 Antonov 24...possibly Aviaexport?

Good afternoon (or morning) to all!

It has being a long time I don't post here and believe me I missed it very much!

Having said so, I believe today is a great day to post...so here I go.

Last week I managed to get an 1/100 Antonov 24 (or maybe 26?) from France. Wing isa broken, no stand base and missing both props. Pretty much a "no-no" to many collectors but what the heck; I bet and I won it!

it is now with me. I glued the wing so no further damage to it.

What makes me a bit puzzled is the fact that I cannot find any traceability for this or any 1/100 Antonov 24 or 26 with CCCP registration. I squeezed the net but no avail!

May someone of you, fine gentlemen and ladies, be so kind to throw some further information?

Many thanks in advance!

All the best from not so sunny Bilbao (which is normal)
Manuel

Hi Manuel, good to hear from you. It’s definitely an An26 you’ve got there, much rarer than the An24. Back in Soviet times, the display models were either those produced by the monolithic Aviaexport organisation, or the in house facilities of the likes of Antonov, Tupolev, Ilyushin, MiG etc. Yours looks like a model made by the Antonov in house unit. These in house models were principally used by the manufacturers themselves as presentations to various clients and VIPs. Those models were usually made from heavy resin. Aviaexport models were usually provided for general advertising displays. They were usually hollow plastic or fibreglass and were usually seen in the travel agencies and ticket offices of the communist era airlines. Aviaexport was also responsible for the coordination of the sales of Soviet civil aircraft around the globe, and for the organisation of exhibitions at major aerospace events. That’s a very nice and rare model you’ve got. The following link maybe of interest to you.

I'm not sure that it's the same as Neil's info... Just FYI, Avitex.

It may be gonna take for a whlie to load all the pictures on this site. I believe that they used to make a smaller model w/o interiors though all the models on the current site are bigger with interiors.

Aki, you may have answered my next question, as I have purchased a helicopter just like those in that page.It looks and feels like a plastic kit, but I cant see any seams, or even the slightest cracks, just like you said, a hollow model, with some interior details...my version does not come with pilots, but I can see a first aid kit inside behind the pilots seat...its not mint, one of the blades is broken, Will post pics when I get home.

You’re more than welcome. There are some stunning models on there, but I think they’re all high quality ‘in house’ models. I can’t recall ever seeing any of the Aviaexport type models on there. If you enquire about the prices, make sure you’re sitting down, they’re not cheap!

Hi Rui. That’s a lovely model. My guess is that it’s not a kit. If it is, then it’s an amazing example of a modellers skill. Do you know the scale? It could be an official MiL model, my monies on that, but I’m really not sure. So I’m no help to you on this ons!
