Default Another new guy with a 1/72 DFM

I just picked up this 1/72 One-Piece polished DC-8. I am guessing it is a true DFM but has an unusual base. Measures about 26"L x 24"w. Comments?......

Hello Gadget-guy.
This is 1/72 DFM, they come in two pieces, you can detached wings from fuselage and you will find matching serial numbers. Yours is one piece, do you see any mark on the belly ?
You can unscrew the stand and look for any mark.
Best regards.

Hello I would say Mercater from Spain, the stand is typical to that brand.

I too would go with the Mercater theory. That’s a very fine model.

Neil.

FYI- There is a similar model currently on eBay. It is not in as nice of condition as yours and it is doing well. It does not have the original stand.

Hi Gadget Guy,

Your model is made by Mercater, from Spain.

Had one in my collection for several years shown below (with not original, new stand)

Your model is very nice as it has it's original stand.

Regards, Robert

Thanks all for the input. From what I can see on the Mercator, mine is very similar but slightly different. Mine has fluted corrugated exhaust nozzles, it has a "lightning bolt" style red stripe down the side and lightning bolt decals on the engines, and the livery font is different. Possibly just a different year or variant?
