Diecast can mean plastic or metal. It's the material used in the die that determines whether it is one or the other. The dude is probably using words that give him an out if you're unsatisfied with it being plastic.

Clap on, clap off

Looks like plastic as where the wing and horizontal stabilizer insert is too clean and has total color unlike metal models.

Must be the new mega models 1:150 models. Also available is an A380 in 1:160 and 787 aswell as A350, saw them at the aviation megastore. Look nice but detail is far less as 1:200.

I have this Malaysian A380 one from that range, my favourite livery on the 380. Very well made in a heavy plastic with some very nice detailing, and a good quality stand Can be displayed gear up if you want. I’ve tried my best to show the model illuminated, quite impressive with the two decks lit up. The voice activation is novel, I usually just lightly tap the fuselage top or clap. A lovely model even when displayed ‘lights out’ They’re not cheap, but IMO worth the money. The whole range is available via Amazon which is where I got this one. Came in a nice Airbus box too.

That is impressive Neil. The next best thing to having a cut-away model.

Do you have to keep it plugged in or is that a charger?

No, as soon as a 50 min charge is done, it’s self sufficient. Charging is done using a USB cable which is supplied but it’s not very long, so I use my iPad one to do it. Once charged you get around 40 mins use. The lighting goes off after about 20 or so seconds to save battery life. The charge socket and switch is well hidden beneath the fuselage. It’s a well thought out design.

I agree, they do look very nice. They would make great night lights. I have a Bandai USS Voyager that lights up and even has movable nacelles that move up to warp position.

nice model Neil. never seen or heard of them before. checked amazon u.k and they have loads of A380, 747 + 787 models available. 1/130 to 1/160 scale. DELTA, CATHAY,ANA,HOUSE,AF1, SAUDIA,LUFTY,AMERICAN etc. but no klm. only on amazon.com. so will be expensive to buy. called 'HANG OU' models.

but 787 house colours looks nice!!

Even without the lighting feature these are very nice models. Nicely detailed landing gear, if you want to use it, and very nicely detailed fan blades etc.

I do like Star Trek! I have the electronic Voyager too. I’m presently putting together the Polar Lights pre coloured Klingon D7 battle cruiser, my all time favourite Trek ship.

Sweet. I'd love to get a hold of an Enterprise D, Klingon Bird of Prey, and a Romulan Warbird. Not sure if Bandai made them all, but if they did I'd have to sell an organ or two to afford them. Lol.

It looks like I won this innovative twist on our model collecting....does it fit my collecting criteria? I don't have one anymore, but I do have an infatuation with any KLM model so this one joins a few other in my hangar

If there's a NWO, then I'm in. But I'm pretty sure the chances of that are nil.

Ok thank you!

@dc10 Tony, as a big Star Trek fan, I would like to see some pics of your voyager. Maybe a Star Trek topic in the other scales section?
