Default Unusual KLM 747 MODEL on Ebay.

not seen one of these before. seller describes as diecast, but looks plastic. says its 18 inches. but is it? that's about 1/144. and it has interior LIGHTS that work by VOICE CONTROL or CLAP?????

Diecast can mean plastic or metal. It's the material used in the die that determines whether it is one or the other. The dude is probably using words that give him an out if you're unsatisfied with it being plastic.

Clap on, clap off

Looks like plastic as where the wing and horizontal stabilizer insert is too clean and has total color unlike metal models.

Must be the new mega models 1:150 models. Also available is an A380 in 1:160 and 787 aswell as A350, saw them at the aviation megastore. Look nice but detail is far less as 1:200.

I have this Malaysian A380 one from that range, my favourite livery on the 380. Very well made in a heavy plastic with some very nice detailing, and a good quality stand Can be displayed gear up if you want. I’ve tried my best to show the model illuminated, quite impressive with the two decks lit up. The voice activation is novel, I usually just lightly tap the fuselage top or clap. A lovely model even when displayed ‘lights out’ They’re not cheap, but IMO worth the money. The whole range is available via Amazon which is where I got this one. Came in a nice Airbus box too.

That is impressive Neil. The next best thing to having a cut-away model.

Do you have to keep it plugged in or is that a charger?

No, as soon as a 50 min charge is done, it’s self sufficient. Charging is done using a USB cable which is supplied but it’s not very long, so I use my iPad one to do it. Once charged you get around 40 mins use. The lighting goes off after about 20 or so seconds to save battery life. The charge socket and switch is well hidden beneath the fuselage. It’s a well thought out design.

I agree, they do look very nice. They would make great night lights. I have a Bandai USS Voyager that lights up and even has movable nacelles that move up to warp position.

nice model Neil. never seen or heard of them before. checked amazon u.k and they have loads of A380, 747 + 787 models available. 1/130 to 1/160 scale. DELTA, CATHAY,ANA,HOUSE,AF1, SAUDIA,LUFTY,AMERICAN etc. but no klm. only on amazon.com. so will be expensive to buy. called 'HANG OU' models.

but 787 house colours looks nice!!

KOREAN A380 LOOKS GOOD TOO.

Even without the lighting feature these are very nice models. Nicely detailed landing gear, if you want to use it, and very nicely detailed fan blades etc.

I do like Star Trek! I have the electronic Voyager too. I’m presently putting together the Polar Lights pre coloured Klingon D7 battle cruiser, my all time favourite Trek ship.

Sweet. I'd love to get a hold of an Enterprise D, Klingon Bird of Prey, and a Romulan Warbird. Not sure if Bandai made them all, but if they did I'd have to sell an organ or two to afford them. Lol.

It looks like I won this innovative twist on our model collecting....does it fit my collecting criteria? I don't have one anymore, but I do have an infatuation with any KLM model so this one joins a few other in my hangar

Ok thank you!

@dc10 Tony, as a big Star Trek fan, I would like to see some pics of your voyager. Maybe a Star Trek topic in the other scales section?

FINALLY got me a KLM 747! for just £65.99 posted off ebay. but I got it free as I sold my HM THUNDERBIRDS PHANTOM for £65 more than I paid for it!!!!!!!

he also has 4 x A380s same price. B.A, EMIRATES, ETIHAD + QANTAS. really tempted to get B.A or ETIHAD. but would rather have a 787 house.

well model arrived yesterday, less than 24 hours after ordering!!! so here are some pics. for the price they are excellent value for their size, and have spinning fan blades. I noticed the seller has put UP his prices on his others by £14 to £79.99. but its still good value. checking around I have come across about 6 Chinese sellers this range around same price with FREEPOST! all have 99%+ pos. feedback. so will look to add a couple more at least. There are now over THIRTY different airline 747s, 787s, a350 + a380s to choose from.

I like the idea of a lighted model, but consider it more as a gadget than a proper model. I saw it at the AMS at Schiphol as well. Good price though.

Bought this SPECIAL LIVERY ANA 787 with lights to go with my KLM. just £63 off china ebay seller. probably have to pay small customs charge, but these are still worth it! even if lights didn't work! you can buy these without lights too.

My choice if I was still buying would be the Thai A380, love that livery. I wonder if they’ll do an A350?

yes well like everything else, more detail, more money! I guess you don't collect commercial models??? because every single maker I know does NOT put open + closed windows on their models in ANY scale. but you can by getting a custom.

had a quote back from seller on ALIBABA.COM for the thai dragon boat. its $42 + $33 post. about same as off Chinese sellers on ebay. so as these ONLY cost around $42 (about £36 gbp, even LESS if pound wasn't schite against the dollar) these are extremely good value for the size, weight, presence and money. and they come with or without lights.

managed to find A THAI DRAGON BOAT on alibaba. just £63.57 shipped. everywhere else was way more. whilst looking around came across a B777! In AIR CHINA COLOURS. couldn't see anymore yet, but maybe they have just started doing this frame? along with a C919.

even came across a COCA COLA A380! .

well found a DRAGON BOAT 747 on ALIBABA.COM for just $42!!! (£35 gbp!) if you buy 100 you get $6 (£5 off)! pre-brexit they would have been just £30 or £25 if quantity bought! unbelieveable price for a model this size, with landing gear, spinning fan blades and lights! postage was $33. total with 3$ CC charge was £63.53! got shipping notice sunday and it arrived yesterday. 2 days. and NO import charges!!! so price was similar to ebay but they include shipping in the price.

Well I have never looked at Alibaba before, but looking today I do not see any of these planes with lights in my search, so I have to be doing something wrong. How are you looking for them?
Thanks

Sadly the search engines on ALIBABA and ALIEXPRESS are poor. there are loads on ebay at varying prices. to find other sellers I just googled 1/150 747 led lights, 1/160 A380 led lights. 1/130 787 led lights and 1/142 A350 led lights. and you will see loads of links. once you follow one, you will loads of others too.

if you want this particular one, check out link below.

https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...4f5067163MtW9g

seller is VICKY LEE. very helpful. if you send a message saying you want to but this one, or another ask to do a TRADE ASSURANCE order/invoice through site. and give her all your details. once done and paid model will be sent out 3/4 days later. mine arrived in 2 days. total I paid with a 3% cc charge was just £63.57.

I couldn't see a MALAYSIAN A380 on her listing, but I asked and she has and they are same price! so I presume all her models are that price. slightly cheaper than ebay. and you get models in a few days and not 4-6 weeks via ebay.

but be aware she cannot send charging cable with because of the lithium batteries. but they charge via a normal android phone charger. but ALIEXPRESS will, but only by standard post. so will probably take a lot lot longer to arrive. similar to ebay.
