Pretty amazing to see this coming together! Very cool stuff.
Being totally ignorant about all things 3D printing, I googled "Anycubic Photon SLA 3D printer", as you mentioned at the start of this thread you are using. I was surprised to see they sell for only around $500. I would have figured they were a lot more expensive than that!
Thanks! Looking forward to finishing this one and moving on to more models.

The prices for a high end SLA with a decent volume is still pretty high, around $3500 but I'm more than impressed with this one for the price. I'm looking forward to getting a new one with a much larger print volume and higher fidelity.

Well, long overdue update guys. We're nearly out of the paint hangar with only a couple things to do before the final photoshoot. I'm a bit disappointed in the clear coat which seemed to have dulled the metal paint significantly. It still looks good, but I think I've got a work around moving forward.
Proper pics coming soon!

Neil, what can I say! That’s beautiful. I love the appearance of the cabin windows, so authentic. Based on your picture I don’t think the metal paint looks bad at all. That is a stunning model Neil, well done.
Neil.

Thanks Neil .
I do like the windows, they came out a bit more flat than I expected but they match the plain cockpit nicely. In the future I want to make more realistic decals for both pax and cockpit windows. The metal paint is probably 30-40% dulled so it wont gleam like the MD-88, but it resembles a realistic weathered bare metal nicely.

Hey guys, this will probably be the final update to this thread. I was going to stick some antennas on there but figured the time would be better spent moving forward with 'Project 737' and working on some commissions.
Soon I will preview the designs of the 737-300, -400, -500 and -100 as well as fixing minor issues and making improvements to the -200 base design, which will include a detailed landing gear. Over the next few months, these designs will be made available as kits(more accurately - blanks) as well as a handful of completed models for sale as time permits.
Thanks for all the support guys!

Great work Neil and sooooooooooo professional looking. Put me on your waiting list for a 737-300 blank. Meanwhile good luck with this as you deserve to do well. It is a beautiful product.
Neil,
What a great job!. I won't talk about the 3d because you are a guru. Period! But the model is perfect. Your decal placing is accurate. This model has charm. I could look at this for hours. Now this is new for historical data. Probably the first scratch 3d model. And yes I would buy a couple sets of elevators from you for my 737's. Again "BRAVO"

Appreciate that! Some things could have been done better, but I like the result. After a few tweaks, the design will be even better! Looking forward to doing some -300s for sure.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I've already updated the 3D cad model for better accuracy and ease of assembly. The engines, pylons, wings, wing roots and stabilizer have all been re-designed so future versions will incorporate these improvements, as well as a detailed removable landing gear.
Some exciting news about this mold and others to come!

This is stunning, we've spoken a lot about your models, and thank you so much for the 3D parts you have done for me too. I now need to get a few copies of your blank models, but more importantly, I'd love a couple of sets of your decals, amazing work, love it. Let's chat via email.
Thanks, Ben

Hello, how are you?!
I'm new here on the forum and I was amazed by your 737-200 model that you modeled in 3D. Congratulations!!!
What software do you use ?!
I am also entering this world of 3D modeling, I am still learning, because I still manufacture my models with manual and handmade techniques, but I already realize that the quality of 3D printed models is infinitely superior.
Do you make custom files or make them available ?!
I await your return!
Thanks!!!

Hi,
The software I use is 3D Studio Max from Autodesk, but there are free 3D programs you can use. Basically any object you design in 3D can be exported in .STL (Stereo-lithography) and printed. There are many good 3D printers for less than $500, but you want to make sure they are DLP or SLA resin type printers, as lesser FDM printers won't be able to capture the detail necessary for scale models. There are also 3D print services available to print your designs.
The STL files I make aren't available for purchase or download, but I do create custom designs for some folks and print them for their needs.
Let me know if I can be of further help.
Kinds regards,
Neil
