Default 1/100 Air 2000 A330 Pacmin

Here's an interesting one for you all, it's a 1/100 scale A330 in Air 2000 colours. In the very early 2000s the airline apparently had 3 of this aircraft on order, they subsequently canceled 2 and deferred 1, which was later also cancelled in favour of the 767-300. This model was sent to the airline from Pacmin, and it's a wonderful piece. I am unfortunately missing the Right Hand wing and a Pacmin stand, so if anyone can help source a spare stand, and a blank/spare right hand wing so I can repaint the pair, that would be amazing!

Anyway, enjoy!

That's another nice one to find. Too bad a wing and stand are missing, but I'm more than sure you can find them soon. Hope to hear the good news.

An unusual model for sure. I have a 1/100 Air 2000 767-300 in exactly the same livery. I did obtain a pair of A350 aft stabs directly from Pacmin, it took a while. I made contact with a woman in their customer relations office, by the name of Esther Viera. She was very helpful and I ended up with those stabs free of charge, worth a go. Below is a pic of my Pacmin A330-300 in Monarch livery, another 'what if' model.

Neil.

Hey Neil, I did contact Pacmin, I have had an initial reply asking me to supply some details, but to be honest, I'm not holding out much hope as it's quite a significant item to try and replace! I really don't mind paying for it though.

The Monarch looks good! Did they have the '-300' on order then? I am actually working on an A330-200 in the final scheme of Monarch in 1/100 scale at the minute. I have the wrong stabiliser problem too though haha, I have A340 stabilisers that are too big.. I am wondering if I will ever have ALL the bits for a model..

Hi Ben. It could be worth persevering with Pacmin. I did have to provide pics of one of the A350 stabs, one was damaged, one was ok. The important image they wanted was the code on the tabs of the stabs. Apparently the code on those tabs related to the design and paint colour. When the box arrived, much to my surprise it contained a pair of them. They didn't charge me anything, not even the shipping. My Monarch was an impulse buy from another collector. That model that you are working on is going to look impressive I'm sure.

Neil.

Hi Istari,

I would agree with Neil, that you may indeed have good luck with PacMin being able to assist you.

I would suggest that you try contacting either Jennifer Medina and or Anthony Sustarsic for assistance. Both have helped me in the past with various parts issues.

Hope that this information helps.

Regards, Robert

Thanks Robert,

I am talking to Jennifer at the minute and she has just said she is going to get some information for me and possibly a quote which would be brilliant news!

Unfortunately because this is a slightly older tooling of the Pacmin A330 they don't have the wings to create a new one sadly I have one final idea then I'm all out and may be stuck with a one wing wonder

Hi Istari,

Perhaps Westway Models and or Atlantic Models might also be to assist you?

Just a thought.

I'm just asking Pacmin if they can supply me blank wings for their new tooling, then I can adapt them to fit. Not heard back yet

Hi

I designed the Air2000 livery back in 1996 when I was working at Landor in their London Office. It was my first airline livery project and even today I am still quite proud of it. As thanks from the client team I was given a small replica model of a 757 in the new livery (I'm not sure of the scale), anyway my two young kids were messing around last night and a thrown object sent the model crashing to the floor! The model has pretty much survived, however I am missing two pieces - one is a horizontal stabiliser and the other is the engine that sits inside the cowling. I know this is probably a long shot but for sentimental reasons I'd really like to have a complete model once again. So my question to all the collectors and knowledgable people on such subject is this - do you know who might have made these models - would they still have them or are there spares that I can buy somewhere. It doesn't really have to be the same livery as I'm sure I could easily retro fit the pieces from another 757. Or I could even run to purchasing another model at the same or a different scale. It's a piece of history.

Many thanks in advance.

Thats fantastic! I love the livery and flew on it a few times (along with it's predecessor) in the 1990's. I am actually a graphic designer too myself, though I don't get to work on such exciting projects. I have worked with V1 decals though to produce this set of Air 2000 Decals for the 757: https://www.v1decals.com/decal/v1d00...boeing-757-200

I also build/paint large scale models (1/100 scale etc.) so I may be able to help with your project. If you want to, you can drop me an email at b dot godlington at gmail dot com, it would be good to see some pictures of what you have to get an idea of scale and maker etc.

Cheers, Ben

Nice one Ben, glad you had a successful outcome! I do have a Space Models Air 2000 767, it’s a nice livery I think.

Neil.
