Hi Okapi,

I also noticed this model on eBay and it's price is really increasing on a regular basis.

Maersk Air was a Danish airline which operated from 1969 to 2005.

When some airline's cease operations, some of their memorabilia do increase highly in value.

Historically and IMHO, this type of models are usually worth from about $200 USD to $300 USD range.

Guess that it always comes down to what someone is willing to pay for something.

Regards, Robert

Looks like a LUPA to me (or similar). Hollow plastic and the tail comes off (I think). You can see if you look carefully that the top of the stand goes into black plastic and also the stand legs unscrew. So, I hope people aren't thinking this is a PacMin or Space model. The bidding seems to indicate such. Either way, no way in my mind this is worth anywhere near what it is indicating it is going for (if these are real bids).

I did see this. This model is worth £60 at the most. As others have said, it's a plastic push fit, nothing more. I used to have one a few years ago, and I payed £20 for it at the gift shop at East Midlands airport. I've seen lunacy on eBay before, but IMO, this takes the biscuit. I think it a real possibility that some of those bidders are under the wrong impression about what calibre of model they are bidding on. Still, if the buyer wants it enough, it's good news for the seller.

OMG, even Gokhan offered over $500 ... I don't understand why this model is so valuable.

Yes, indeed! And both of them are -700 series, aren't they?

Two days to run, 21 bids, presently £350! Have people gone mad? In all my 40 years of collecting, I've never seen anything like this. Over £300 for a plastic snap together model? I've never seen the like

That is an insane price for a mass produced model which is found on regular basis on several danish websites for a price between 35-60£

Winning bid £350! It's the buyers prerogative of course, to spend his/her money as they see fit, but come on, all that dosh for a glorified Wooster model? what a waste of money

I'm pretty sure that the buyer mistakenly thinks it's a -300 version and that the maker of the model is either pacmin, space models, ami or similar. Unfortunately for him/her it's not! But nevertheless he/she could be happy about the model despite the price and despite the model maker, and in the end both seller and buyer are happy.

Quite so, and that's as it should be. I really could understand it if this was a Pacmin or Space Models item.

Well, it does seem a very strange phenomenon. Perhaps I should offer the buyer
my spare set of 737-300 horizontal stabilisers. Based on all this, they could pay for next years summer holiday, well almost
