A beautiful model Herb. The 2707 would have been quite something to have seen 'in the flesh' I was lucky enough to get a 1/72 XB70 display model for Christmas, another beautiful design. I'd been looking for a large scale model of it for many years.

Beautiful model Herb; love the stunning backdrop of the second photo with the silhouette of New York.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Pinto. Yes, I do collect die cast, and plastic models of cars which used to be made during the Communist era in the USSR and Eastern Europe. Some of the models made back then were a little crude, but not all of them. There used to be a very good quality range of 1/43 scale die cast models made in the USSR. These had incredible detailing, even underneath. You could get cars, busses and trucks, and very cheaply, the range even included the big black limousines used by the Communist elite. I've already posted a pic of an Aeroflot Follow Me car on here. The East Germans made some interesting plastic and tin plate models in larger scales, I have an Interflug 'crew bus' and a 1/18 Wartburg Volkspolizei car, which is remote cable control, with working lights. I also have a tin plate Il62 from East Germany. The two models in the picture are contemporary 1/18 models, both bought in Germany. My first 1:1 car which I bought in 1978, was an East German made Wartburg 353, (picture below) It was cheaper to buy than a Mini back then. It had a two stroke engine, 950cc I think, so you had to remember to put the two stroke oil in with the petrol at every fill up! Following that, over the years I drove Ladas, and Skodas (genuine 'home grown' ones, not today's Volkswagen 'clones') I never had any problems with any of them, they were very reliable, but had zero street cred! Better end here, before the mods decide that a post about cars is inappropriate on here!

Hi Neil, Robert, and Pinto,

Thanks for your replies~ Not sure if anyone collected SST models here.
Neil, love your BOAC Swing Wing. A big goof by Boeing, but a what great looking airplane.

Herb
The Pacmin model is in the correct House Colours unlike the 1/200 models in black yellow and white lifted from the 2707-100.
I saw the same model in AIRLIFT markings on Ebay back in 03. Have never seen this or any Pacmin 2707-300 airline variant on Ebay since.
Neil I would love to get a model of the B70 as it appeared in artwork in SAC silver. I was hoping to get one from NICE AIRPLANES but their very helpful contact in the UK died last year. I did pick up a Dragon 1/200 kit finished in current USAF grey at Gatwick in 2013.

Ralph, I was very lucky with the XB70. It became available from Westway, as the original order from a Stateside collector was cancelled. So with the help of Ashley (D-AIHK) the model arrived with me. Its a bit bigger than I envisaged, but impressive.

PS: Sorry Neil, didn't answer about your B-70; Congratulations. How does one divest after an order is placed? This is really uncool.

1/200 Revell Boeing 2707-100 SST by Andy Davies

Interesting article about building the Revell sst kit as the prototype. Note the same colours used in the 1/200 model wrongly.

Love these kits Ralph. Builder did a nice job too. Can't see any windows but photo is quite dark. The rear quarter shot look very bird of prey in feeling.
