Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"
Is this really a brand-new mould developed by Gemini, or are they using the existing Skymarks Supreme mould?
Thank you, Mike777 for asking this question. This is the one and only 1/100 model that's been on my wishlist for the past 5 years.
I was thinking along the same line, because they were some comments about the landing gear on the SS mould being out of proportion. But, they needed to make them that big to handle the extreme weight of the model. Hope they were able to come up with some better gear?

New mould to GJ but its not the skymarks one I believe. The GJ model doesn't have landing gear.
It is a new mould, resin will not have gear..Its the same company as HA A330

Thank you for the info. I have never held the ha a330 model; i did handle the skymarks supreme qantas a380 and that model was very heavy. Will this new G100 EK A380 have the same weight? Any reason they passed up on the gear? Thank you.

they hardly ever ever put landing gear on 1/100 aircraft or bigger randy. only skymarks supreme come with gear afaik. down to cost I believe. I have 15 large BOAC models. none have gear. $200 for a 1/100 a380 is bloody cheap!! westway in u.k are $500 for a resin 1/100 B747! but then again they are to order only.
I am the number one promoter of the Skymarks Supreme A380 but the gears are a joke totally out of scale and are of no use at all. This model will not have gear and will only be available for US distribution only

I agree with you on the landing gear. Thank you for the clarification. Since you are very familiar with the Skymarks Supreme A380 models; how does the new G100 compare in weight? The 2 SS A380 (House and Qantas) were very solid in feel. Any reason why this model is only being sold in the USA? Thank you, T7

Yeah, $200 for a 1/100 model especially for the size of the A380 is an excellent price!

Yep, the gear are not a deal breaker for me. Like I mentioned earlier, I do not collect or had any interest in 1/100 models. However, I will only make the exception for the EK A380.

shipping costs most likely. its around $90 to ship a 1/100 model to u.k. PLUS you will have custom charges on that price of around $50-80!! it would almost DOUBLE the price!! but would still be a 1/3 less than one from westway. even with post and customs charge!

Thank you, and I appreciate the link. Based on the photo, looks pretty good. Now just gotta tell the wifey what I want for my birthday next month. Hmmm. I noticed they did not provide a weight total for the model, but did provide measurements with lenght and wingspan.
I would say that the overall quality is good but, not as good as a PacMin.
I also agree with you in that I would like to see them expand into more of the Boeing line of models but, it appears as though that are just "testing the water of the buying public" with these larger resin models, at a very slow pace.
A friend of mine just returned from Dubai after a 2 month holiday there from where he picked up a Pacmin EK A380 model from one of their stores and when he unpacked it a few days ago he was horrified to see the model has blisters and bubbles all over the fuselage and tail. The tail is the worst as it has a huge bubble which if pressed makes this crackling crunching sound.
I have no interest or use for gears on a 1:100 model.
Me neither.

That's a sad story, he must have been heartbroken. I did once see a modern 1/100 Westway 747 with the same problem. I wouldn't think there is anything which could be done to 'rescue' his model. Unusual for a Pacmin though..

I would also agree with Neil that your friend must have been so disappointed when he discovered that his PacMin had such damage.
Truly, if models are not properly stored and or displayed in a temperature controlled environment, then just about any type of model can be susceptible to such damage.
Many years ago, I once had a 1/200 scale resin Air Jet Advance Boeing 727-200 model sitting my garage, during one very hot summer day/night and when I looked at it the next day, it was ruined.
No one in their right mind would put landing gear on a 1/100 or larger model. Where would you be able to set it down? Your coffee table? Dining room table? Office desk? And having gear on a flying display just doesn't look right.

I whole heartedly agree with that.
