Default Work completed and some not!

Hi Friends,
Here are a few pictures of the CP Air DC-8 1:50th completed 2 weeks ago. It is on an original Douglas casting (I think serial 151). It sets my shop really well and I think it will remain there. I am starting another next week, that should turn out even better, and also on an original Douglas cast.

The Air Canada is a 1:72nd and was the hardest model I ever attempted without decals for the red. The red cheat line, the black glare shield and the white are hand painted. The nightmare was to curve the red to meet the cockpit corner and the black glare. It will soon be on its way to Robert V in Dallas.

The C-130 (Civilian L100-30) Hercules is my current project. It is based on a 1:72nd plastic/resin mould from Westway. I am doing it in the FirstAir livery that is based in the North West territories here in Canada. I made a stand for it and painted it white to represent the snow (it is not a DFM stand. Actually smaller). The decals on the stand will really compliment the project (picture just shows proofs). I have the propellers for it. I can't wait to finish this one. It is such a great and correct mould.

You'll also notice all the work in waiting here and there in the background.
Enjoy the pictures.

Cheers

Al

A BOAC 707 on a Verkuyl blank in 1:50th would look great. I think that BOAC only flew the 400 series, so I would have to do some research and measuring. I have a few Verkuyl 1:50th blanks. One will be an RCAF livery (I have decals) but I have no plans for the others yet.

Thanks for the kind comments. I am learning so much from all of this. I found out that you need to be ready to scrap weeks of work and start all over again. That is the hardest part........cheers al

Hi Al,

Hope all is well.

The CP & AC models look fantastic!

You're certainly a master of your trade! Bravo!

I'm sure that the C-130 model will also come out just as nice.

Best Regards, Robert

Thanks Robert.
I have the white painted on the Herc. The testor bright white 1145 thinned at 3 to 2 came out superb! Now I will paint the wings and rear stabs light grey and the engine shinny silver. Your painting is only as good as your masking is the rule, and that is the work I enjoy. That new yellow frog tape is magic! I will also paint a dark grey walking area on the wing.
Cheers
Al

Thanks for that! I didn't know (about the series 300) and I was getting ready to hit the books. That would make a great project. I love the livery and it is not an impossible project. What I mean is that no decals from an external source would be needed. I am fairly sure that I have the tail logo here somewhere, in my bags of tricks..
