Default 1:100 Delta L-1011

Thought I would share some photos of my latest addition. I am very pleased with the quality of this model. The L-1011 in 1:100 scale is very impressive. I am including a photo of me holding the model for a size comparison for those of you who collect smaller scales. All of the models in the display case are 1:200 diecast. This should give you a pretty good idea of the size.

This model is from the Toys and Models Corporation.

P.S. Robert (airlineguy) I am a dealer for Toys and Models Corporation also!

Great looking model. IMO the best looking aircraft we ever flew.

Nice model indeed....I had the privilege of flying on the very last scheduled passenger Delta L-1011 back in 2001 from Orlando to Atlanta...I took several Gemini 400 Delta L-1011 models as well as the wings to my Pac Min Delta L-1011...Amongst all the hoopla and celebrating I had the flight crew sign the boxes of the Geminis and the wings to the Pac Min model..Sadly in time the black sharpee marker I used on the Pac Min has faded where you can barely read their names anymore...

At least you have the memories Russell! I would do anything to go back and fly on an L-1011.... I wish I would of had the chance to fly on a B707 and B727 also....

Do you have any photos of your PacMin Delta L-1011?

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

Thanks for sharing the model and some of your collection with the board. It's appreciated indeed.

You're also a dealer for TMC? Cool. I've been with them for 15 years now and it's nice working with them. Continued success for you as well.

I once had a 1/100 PacMin Delta Airlines Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, which I had sold and here's a link that still has a few pics of the model:

Wishing you a great day.

Robert,

Toys and Models Corporation are a great group and I enjoy working with them also!

As for the Delta L-1011, they nailed it! The bare metal to white to black transition at the nose is perfect! I love the lines! I could not be happier! I am considering a 1:50 version!

Have you ever ordered a 1:50 with gear down and full extension of the slats and flaps? I am having one qouted but would love to see some photos of these details on a model they have produced....

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

The Delta L-1011 Widget Livery is a true work of art. Wish other types of airplanes in this model livery, were available in the Delta line.

Never done any commercial airline custom orders for anything that large, with such detail before with them.

Have done a few customized private aircraft orders with them for a few of my customers.

Also, I had a few Braniff Calder DC-8-62's models made with them in 1/100 scale and a 1/72 scale (which actually arrived to me as a 1/60 scale.

Regards, Robert

Robert,

I am a big fan of the widget livery also! I may have to add a few custom widgets to my own collection in 1:100.... Along with my L-1011 I would like to have a 727, 727, and I am even considering a fantasy 777 in widget!

I will be sure to share them all on here!

Thanks,
Matt

P.S. I would love to see your Calder DC 8's!

Matt,
Beautiful TriStar!, and collection. Did you do custom build your cabinets?

HI Robert,
Congrats on all the screens coming together for that Calder DC-8. Question: Is that mould a -63? It looks good, but what about the engine pylons? They look a bit off. OT:Anyway, am VERY happy with my 1/32 Lear 60 and Piaggio Avanti. A top notch job on both!

Best to all,
Herb

Hi Herb,

I had asked the company to make me two (2) of The Calder DC-8-62 Models. One in 1/100 scale and the other in 1/72 scale. As much as the factory had never previously done a DC-8-62 to my knowledge, I sent them tons of pics and schematics for the actual DC-8-62.

But alas, I believe that the pylons may be a bit off and my 1/72 scale that they sent to me is much larger. It's about a 1/60 scale. To big to display in any of my rooms, due to wife's collectibles, having priority in the home. As many of us know

Trying to sell it to anyone that would want it for the right price.

Thanks for your feedback on the other TMC models that you have. The company does put out a great product for the most part and everyone that buys their models from me have always been happy with their purchases.

Regards, Robert

Was this a custom or a stock item at one point?

Thanks,

Herb,

I was fortunate to purchase this particular display cabinet from someone whose father was a lifetime collector of model farm equipment. His father had passed away and he was in the process of putting all of the models up for auction. He was able to transport all of the models to the auction that was held out of state but he couldn't transport the display cabinet. The cabinet is custom made and is 7 foot tall by 14 foot long I believe. It has adjustable glass shelving with room for expansion as well as lighting on the top and both sides. He was unable to tell me how much his father paid to have it built but I imagine it was a lot more than I paid for it. I was very honest with him about what I had to spend and I told him I did not want to offend him and make an offer. He sold it to me just to remove it from the house so that he could put the house up for sale.

Thanks Herb!

By the way, I haven't talk to you on the site in quite a while! Drop in and say hi!

Take care,
Matt
