Default Rare Allyn Boeing 367-80 (N70700)

This is a very rare Allyn Sales Model of the Boeing 367-80 (Dash 80 - N70700) the prototype for the 707 and the KC-135 Stratotanker. I have seen chrome versions of this model before and they were all in fair to poor condition. I have NEVER seen a gold one or one in this condition!

I also have never seen one that was given as an award to an employee by the Boeing Co.

The plaque on this piece reads;

Alden L Walker
Man of the Month
October 1962
Boeing Co
Transport Division

I am very curious if any one can show me another example like this either gold in color, in this condition, or issued by Boeing to an employee as an award.

This model is about 11 inches in length with an 11 inch wingspan. As you can see the finish is very nice and the decals are great. I would love to have any and all information anyone can provide as I like to make an information file for each model I have.

Thanks,
Matt

That is a nice model! I have seen both the chrome and this gold (rarer) plated one. Based on your measurements, I do not believe that it is the Dash 80 model. It might have been a regular KC-135 or B-707 model casting with the Dash 80 decals applied. I own a Dash 80 model that measures 10" in length by 10.5" wing span.

GREAT stuff guys! If someone mentioned a gold plated Dash 80, not sure I would go for it, but after seeing, looks fantastic.

Used to have an Allyn B-52B back in the '90s, chrome finish, certainly not as rare as this.

I will measure my model to be exact when it arrives. I will also upload more detailed photos. I was told this model may have been a pacmin also but until I had seen your model I only had an Allyn to compare it to... I am thinking they are the exact same mold... I did a small computer overlay and they match up! Any idea what mine might be worth? I am not as familiar with the vintage models.

Thanks,
Matt

Does sound kinda trophy like until you see it and its patina! It is not at all in my scope of models I collect but when I seen it I had to have it!

Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

The Allyn Sales Company model indeed.

Here's a few other similar models made by Allyn:

Vintage Boeing Jet Stratoliner METAL desk model N707 (12/05/2011)...

Goleta Air and Space Museum, Aviation Antiques for sale

Desk Top Model Jet Allyn Boeing 707 Stand Repaired | eBay

I had one of those models in a B-52 Version many years ago. Unfortunately don't have any pictures of it anymore.

Hope that this info helps.

Regards, Robert

Also the Dash 80 did not have all of those cabin windows like your model.
