Hi,

just wondering if anybody has an extra 1/36 Westway models 747 stand to sell.

Also i need a 1/72 Westway 747 cutaway model horizontal stabilizers. Contacted Westway but they said "sorry we dont have the molds ". Kinda odd that they said that but i guess they dont want to deal with small change.

If Doug at Westway models says he doesn't have the mold, then he doesnt have them. The 1/72 scale 747 Westway models we produced over 20+ years ago. The mold was destroyed a good number of years later by the original company.

Other than the fact that Doug worked for the original Westway company, he purchase the name of the business when Space Models went under.

Do you need both left and right hor. stabs? I believe I have a mould for one side but I need to dig it out to see which side it is.

It was actually samantha dunn who replied with that statement in an email. She has made such replies to many requests from other customers (see DAC forums for westway).

Although those models were made 20+ years ago, if you would see on Westways website, and i quote " We can repair, restore or do full restoration work to any model from small desktop models to large-scale cut-aways we can also replace missing, broken parts and decales."
In addition to this, they have a model displayed on their website that shows the before and after repairs pictures. Quote: "This 1/72 scale 747-100 livery had completely faded away it also had two missing engines and a missing tail plane.
About 20 seats and some of bulkheads had also come away from there fittings inside the model so we choped the nose of the model and restored the floor as well.
The customer wanted the model put in to THY colours and we added a new stand."

So, umm how exactly are they doing these repairs in todays time without molds , etc? Did they have spares left just for this one repair? Inquiring minds want to know.

Obviously we all know who this customer (GS) probably is.
This is why i talk about small change, as perhaps Sam Dunn is just not interested (in low profit repairs) as she has made it obvious by her delays in email responses or lack of interest expressed in emails.
