Alright, bearing in mind it's been a long time since I built a plastic model. Are they all Tamiya? They are nice builds, thank you for sharing

my models are frrom hasegawa, tamiya and monogram...Im not sure anymore if I still have the patience to built plastic models like before....I had an unfished B-29 in 1/48 from monogram but was too lazy to finish it and left it unfinished in the attic...was so big....and no space anyway to display it....lol

I have the patience but not the time to spare. Too many other commitments. Diecasts are a good alternative if you have a fascination with aeroplanes. It's incredible to think your plastic models were built over ten years ago. They've lasted very well.

still got a model built in the late 80s i think....a Tamiya 1/32 scale F-14 Jolly Rogers....will post the pic later beside a 1/72 JR from Century.....its a pity that I miss some antennas and the model need repaint perhaps in the far future...

You're really stirring up the memories now. I've never built Tamiya's 1/32 models, however several of my modeller friends have. I remember being quite impressed with their efforts. Please do post a photo

a Tamiya F-4 Tomcat in 1/32 scale I built in the late 1980s....took me weeks to assemble...the age of the model shows....the stickers and paint fades....needs a repaint perhaps....

Yes that is how I remember Tamiya's 1/32 models. Now this is a big model I see your point about the decal and paint finish. It's like weathering which has gone wrong. Not as bad as the F-16 weathering I've seen on this forum though.

I am impressed if you achieved good results with handpainting

1/72 Spitfires is the largest model I can get away with handpainting. Anything larger such as a B-25 and the brushmarks will be quite visible with my skills. I can only assume you never built German warbirds with mottled camouflage. An airbrush is the only method to achieve that kind of result?

Will actually try to take a shot with 1/200...with a C-17 to start with.... and a KC-10 from AV200 is coming soon too....it seems hopeless at the moment to be waiting for some models of this kind in 1/72. A B-2 or a C-5 will never be made because of its size.Anyway...Ill just see how it goes...

The Sikorsky H53 helicopter brings back a few memories It could be quite a heavy diecast if made in 1/72.

I remember reading about one person who took all his old models and carefully disassembled them, rebuilt and painted them, adding photo-etched, white metal and new decals. The results were pretty impressive, and gave new life to his old "primitive" work. It was an article in Fine Scale Modeler, have to see if I still have it.

that would be interesting to read...if you still have it, gospodin.....thanks in advance.....my main problem is removing the old paint carefully without damaging the panel lines

I've read a similar one on redoing plastic model cars. With the old model, the author applied some sort of paste which dissolved the paint leaving the plastic unharmed. He did say the paste was an irritant and had to be extremely careful handling the substance.

Very good Mar_ji I like the differing sizes of the Starfighter. You're likely to be right about the 1/72 B-2. After the comments on the B-1, it would be heavy and difficult to keep the price down to an affordable.

I searched for the magazine article on the paste I mentioned. Unfortunately it has been binned during my house move. The magazine is from over 10 years ago - Scale Model International I think.

I was able to get it at my local hobbyshop here in Holland...if youre interested to surf...AviationMegastore.com .....and type pitot tube at the search box...youll see if its available...i used the 1/48 scale F-14 pitot tube which really fits best. if its out of stock, you can ask to be notified thru email but youve got to register first. F-14s and F-16s probes are easily sold out,so now and then youve got to check the website...the brand is called MASTER...a polish manuf that really makes good probes and other miniature guns for various scales....good luck......by the way, you got a very sharp eyes seeing that probe on my Grim Rippers....lol...my dutch F-16 has a brass probe too

Thank you very much for the info. I agree the 1/72 probe looks way too small but I never could have guessed that a 1/48 will look that good. I must give it a try.

I'm quite interested to see the TU-144 Charger. You don't often hear this Soviet plane being mentioned. I don't think it ever entered commercial service unlike Concorde.
