Default Corgi 1:72 WWII Aircraft Collection

I just started collecting 1:72 WWII Aircraft Aug 9, 2010 and am completely hooked on Corgi as I have collected over 60 aircraft in 3 weeks. My wife is going to kill me if she finds out how much money I've spent. Help me, I can't stop...while I guess I have to, I'm outta money! Anyone dish out loans?

Welcome to the forum. Pretty impressive to blow through @ $2000 in three weeks. Kinda hard to hide that many models and that much money though, isn't it? I think your wife will catch on.

I hear our new healthcare bill considers your problem a disease, and will provide financial assistance for treatment... if you survive the wife. On the other hand, the healthcare bill provides financial incentive for a spouse to "cure" his/her partner of the disease as well... in any manner necessary.

That is freakin' funny GT. I'll certainly have to look into that, but if anyone thinks I lost my mind asking for financial assistance cause I bought too many collectibles, I'll let em know Gray Trees on a Hill told me about it. Of course they will certainly lock me up if they think I've been talking to trees.

Actually it is over 3 grand including tax. I'm not so sure impressive is the correct word, more like "Have you lost your freakin' mind", and I think the wife certainly suspects it with all the boxes that I have nowhere to hide and having 3 more glass shelves for the curio being made cause of all the "little toys that look the same" as my wife says!

I can't think of a better way to spend 3 grand and I'm shure you made Corgi very happy. I would really like to see that list of the planes you bought!

It would not let me copy the url so I have to type it, but here is the list of the planes I bought minus the two I am supposed to get in the mail Thursday and the three I am picking up at my local hobby shop that I ordered when I get back from vacation and minus the ones that I pick up while on vacation, ha ha.

Welcome to club, buddy. You are a brave soul for spending $3000 in three weeks. Keep it up. You, alone, may spur our economy back into shape.
I started collecting about 2 years ago, when I purchased a Christmas gift for a friends son. I quickly decided that I would collect a specific type of plane or specific era. As and ex airman of the Air Force, I decided to collect only U.S. Air Force birds, WW II,Korean, Vietnam and the modern era. I don't have all of the birds, but I get the ones that I like. Sometimes I go overboard. Fortunately, the wife never says a word and that usually works...the silent treatment. I got about 35 birds with more on the way; Corgi, Hobby Master , Witty, and Dragon. Most of my collection is WW II birds, P51s,p47s, a couple of Me 262s and a FW 190, just to mix things up a little. I got plans for more birds, but I am trying to be very selective. Enjoy the hobby and let the good times roll

Thx Badgat, I may get the economy going on my way to the dog house. The wife has been pretty quiet so far, as you say "the silent treatment", but I don't think that's gonna last much longer. I just purchased 6 more plus received 2 more in the mail today. God help me. Me thinks I need to go to Rehab.

Don't worry RJSChiller. You will eventually come to your senses. If I had the money I would buy as many as I could. I came to my senses about a week ago when I realized I had only 50 bucks in my checking account with 3 days to go before payday. The wife never found out. Whew! but I am currently eying about 8 - 10 planes. I am trying to narrow the list down to a bout 2 or 3. Its gonna be difficult. I usually go for the best deal on a rare bird or a newly released bird. If your wife gets upset, just tell that these planes are collectible and they can be passed down as heirlooms. That may keep the peace for a little while
