Question SR-71s from Century Wings

Hello everyone,
This is my first posting and I want some comments about the two models I received from Aviation Retail Direct. I bought the SR-71A and SR-71B and am extremely pleased with them. However should the SR-71B have the 9th SRW badge under the serial?

Nice get...was looking at this myself.

Quick question, if you don't mind me asking. How big is the box for this model? Thanks!

It is a big one 50x29x11cm. Big model but I must say the box is spot on and this beauty sits securely and well protected inside.

@tony, that picture is the Sr-71 Ichi Ban, which is different than the Rapid Rabbit he has which is exclusive in the Japanese Market only. Also, he's asking about the SR-71B, not the Sr-71A.

@filar, no most of the pics I have does not show the badge under the serial. This is from airliners.net

After that they changed the tail to the NASA livery.

Speaking about tails, for the Sr-71A Rapid Rabbit, it's a shame they have a misprint on the tail. I believe one of the R is a P. Otherwise both are very nice models. I have the Ichi Ban and I'm about to get the Sr-71B soon.

opps sorry I just realized the Sr-71B picture I posted is actually the one that crashed. Here's some photos of the one depicting the model (and the only Sr-71B that survived)

Sorry Gabe, we figured posting it on Ebay would be the fairest way. Last time when we located a couple of AJ210s from a distributor, we posted them on our site. We sold the 4 we got in 10 minutes and then got e-mails for a month on how we didn't stock enough! So we decided that putting a few of the rare models on Ebay is the fairest way to do it.

However, we have added a bunch of new models lately. If you haven't seen our store lately, check it out!

Great photos Retroguy!

These SR-71Bs are slowly getting snapped up. We just opened up our last available case today. I'm going to try to snag a couple more before they are all gone.

The Sr-71B is absolutely beautiful, for those that didn't get one, I highly recommend you pick one up before they are all gone. Only 1500 released worldwide.

Picked up the SR-71 17978 Playboy from Japan the other day, and it has the correctly printed "Playboy Rabbit" on the one I bought. Almost didn't buy it because of what was reported, but I took the chance anyway and glad I did.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

Received build 444 of 1000 from Hobbylink Japan last week and it has the "PABBIT" missprint on the left vert stab. At this stage it doesn't detract much as it's so small.

I got 3 serial numbers for the rapid rabbit
#20, #298 and #962

And all had the mispelling. No one I ever heard from (aside from stallianceflyer) had the correct spelling. It is my belief that his was customized or photoshop (again, that is just my belief, I'm not making any accusation)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I should've put it in the Rapid Rabbit post http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/military-model-aircraft/82667-sr-71-rapid-rabbit.html but it also works well in here.

Oh well NASA 831 SR-71B for me next!

AimHigherJets is selling the B variants for only $109. Great price compared to the retail.

That's where I'm hovering my cursor over right now mulling over whether or not to go ahead with the order this instant

Explaining it to the GF will be fun....

Try explaining the four blackbirds in my signature lol. The key is to simultaneously place an order for shoes for your gf when you buy the blackbirds. Give the shoes first to her and while she's distracted, sneak your big box into your room.

Thanks for the tip. I just purchased one from them now. I was wondering if it comes with a stand as well?

Been looking to collect again and seaching the net lead me to these fine forums with lots of information. Only have a Franklin Mint F-14 (Jolly Rogers I think) that a bought years ago. I think its a 1/48 scale not sure but it is big. Also have a few smaller toy store bought planes but looking to collect more in the 1/72 scale as from what I read is the better scale (right size more selection) Again thanks for tip and info.

yes the Sr-71B does have a stand (see my signature picture below)

Good choice on focusing on 1/72 scale and welcome to the forum!
