Hello one and all:

Been a while since ive posted last, but had a virus hit me and wiped out mail and and a number of other items as well.

Well I put up a sheet of 3/4 plywood 2'x8' and ran out of room. At present in 1/400 I have.

15.......C-17s
06.......IL-76s
01.......An-124
02.......C5As
04.......KC-10s
04.......KC-135s
01.......VC-10
01.......J-Star
01.......Mercury
01.......AN-50 Mainstay
05.......AWACs..3-USA, 1-NATO, 1-French
18.......C-130s
04.......KC-10 extras, B1, 2F-117s & F-15. These are up for trade!

For now my next step will be another C-17, J-Star and a few more C-130s in IDF, Australia and Taiwan, all 3 are in a 2 or 3 Camo pattern.

I'm also into 1/300 and have my C-130s mixed in with the JADF and also have a large collection of 144 with AH-1s, V-22s, Uh-60s and CH-47s

Comments are welcome.

I must agree with you on this champpit....I got the ARII, & my, they are really toyish. I think I'll try the Trumpeter, plus the ARII set came with 1 F/18 only per box.

Since Dragon Wings started production of the F-15 & F-16, Stealth, why can't do produce these planes with landing gears....I hope Dragon Wings is reading this.

Baxter66:

Go slow on those Trumpeter 1/350, as I said in a past post. had a very good friend try is hand at putting them together and with out decals or paint.

It took 21 moves for each jet.

Also i collect Micro Machines Military and have found that our F-117 are a very good match in size. Not saying that all are in the 1/400 like the twin Tail rudders, but they do have landing wheels

Hello Downunder:

Ive not gotten around to do the airport, was just happy to get a 1/2 sheet of 3/4 plywood up and be able to show my collection! without having to take it down every nite

Adding to my growing list of planes is a C-130 from your home! A 747 Command post and another J-Star.

My toy room is very small. It started out as a N-scale model railroad, but then my nephews started to come into the picture and watching them picking a engine off the track and dropping one of the $100.00 plus! just didn't look right! so down came that and replaced with my vast collection of Micro Machines and ive losted all site of what use to be a table under it all.

So the plywood shelve servers as a new area where for now ive got 144 Helicopters, 1/300 & 1/400 C-1s and C-130s and last in the corner, the 1/400 planes.

If I were to put down runways and hangers! heck 2 of the 3 scales would have to go back into storage.

So for now its all show and tell

Here are a few pics to give you guys an idea about the differences. The Mig-29, and SU-34's are 1/350Trumpeter, the F-14, F-18, Sea King and EA-6B are 1/350 Tamiya, and the camo F-15, camo F-16, AH-64, A-10 and Harrier are 1/400ARII. There is a F-15, F-16 and F-117 from Dragon too. In terms of quality I would say Trumpeter 1st, Tamiya 2nd and ARII 3rd. All of these planes are in various stages of completion. None of them have been finished yet.

Sorry for the lack of quality on these, but they were taken with my little point and shoot camera.

But here's the latest additions to my collection. Mainly it's additions of a couple of C-17's, the KC-10's, a lot of C-9's, C-32, C-40, and a couple of B-2's. The crown jewel is the California KC-135. While I have a couple of models whose tail numbers I've actually flown on, this was my first military plane that I flew on.

Sagar, I really like your crowded little airfield, especially the grimy tarmac, looks really convincing. I have every one of those models myself, with the exception of the C-17's (I only have Altus and RAF). The military aircraft are the best part of my collection. I don't see the ALS-1, though. You really need that one!

Yes your right, the Artic USAF, CG, Blueangel and looks like 3 Jenny's. Thr trouble is they all look alike, except for the C-32s.

Solid AF Grey ot Grey/White again with the exception of the Green KC-10.

I like the C-130s with the multi nations with all the different colors

Afternoon:

I got around ti list my collection here! but I'm having problems trying to find 2 planes so far from the date a base.
The first one is the DC-10 Omega tanker.
The 2nd 2 are both A-50 Mainstays, ive looked under A-50, IL-76 and IL-78.

I still have the 15 C-17s to do, a C-40 and a few more planes I want to pick up.

Is it just me:

Or is the market starting to dry up for Military 1/400. Hey I still see C-17s, KC-10s and a few C-130s.
But I can't remember when I saw a KC-135 or a non white KC-10

Unhappy Re: My Military Model Airport

It is very disappointing to see the lack of Military stuff coming out. I got into this hobby strictly for the Military aircraft. If they make the planes people will buy them. I am especially disappointed with Dragon Wings. They haven't put anything out since the C-130 with skiis. Hopefully 2009 will be a better year for us Military collectors.

I got into it because of the C-17s, then after that I got the bite and started collecting Military items to tie in with my 1/144/Micro Machines Military stuff. it isn't the facted that the scales don't match, but I wanted the planes to match in scale.

I say that out of my 80 planes or so that 75 came off the web/ebay and only 5 in person.

I live about 45 miles NxNE of Green Bay, WI and you can't find anyone selling in the area! and the next city is Milwaukee, which is a 3 hour drive one way.

So Mikey! how big is your collection

I really enjoy the military models that I've collected so far, and none of them are leaving my collection. The C-130 is a favorite, and I've picked up 20 of them, 5 or 6 of them civilian. I'll pick up more with time, but I have all the ones I really want right now. I've got the Marine DC-9s on order right now, looking forward to them.

Yes I saw it just today, but i think the one I like is the VC-10 camo, the colors remind me of their ChallengerII tanks.
But what troubles me most of all is the lack of Military planes coming out. 2 VC-10s, 2 Marines and i think 1 CA 310

I recommend these guys:

Diecast Military Aircraft: Century Wings model aircraft, Hobby Master, Franklin Mint, Dragon Wings GeminiJets and Mahogany desktop models.

They offer great selection at a great price.

Definitely go w/ them!

The cheapest place I found is Team10 Collectibles, they are selling for $19.00.

The next place is ebay in the 1/400 scale! sometimes you can get them cheap, but once I see it gos over the $20.00 range its not for me.

Ok, what did everyone get for Xmas in 1/400. As for my collection! Ive got 7 more planes to add! Another C5A, C-17, VC-10, KC-10, C-130, P-3C and a C-40.

Try my hand at a couple of NetModels, the DC-9s A&B. the set of 2 wented for $45.00 and just a single 9B wented for the same amount.

So after feeling alittle sad I wented after another C5A and got over it

You ought to get the two JX Marine DC-9s being released this month. Also the AC USAF C-22A (727) is nice. Got all three. I wanted the AC BAC-1-11 RAF RAE set, but the budget wouldn't allow for it.

One of the DC-9s is on the listed or both! Need to look up the C-22A. My main out look as been more of the heavy transport with the C-17s and C-130s, then the C5As.

I stopped at the last C-17 for 16 of them and have 5 C5A on hand, plus 1 in the mail and want 2 more. Maybe a few more C-130s, after that I'll level off at 100 or so.

Mainly, because I won't have the room to show them all, unless I add more shelveing.

Zareh at Airplane Replicas has the C-22A, he just got in the latest AC releases. The wait sucks, because it's about two weeks from Canada.

Steve:

Think I'll pass for the time being with said seller from Canada. Have my next C5 coming in for about the same price as the C-22A

Question on C5As

I have 6 of them for now and was looking at the last one I got in and then the other 5 as well.

All 6 have the same thing, when looking at the cockpit from the top and front, the refueling port is off to the Starboard side and isn't center.

Is that the right way or is the factory paint job off

Well, all three that I have are all off center. Guess it's just the way it goes.

Anyone a painter of planes outthere.

I have a civilian C-130, that I want to paint black or soor in the colors of a SPECTRE Gunship color, but at the same time I don't want to lose, the doors, windows, cockpit windows etc etc.
Once I would get it back I would look at adding the need guns on the Port side.???

Jim:

I'm a 1/400 collector. You can get Model Power IL-76s for under $10.00 per copy, you can also get Mainstay 50 AWACs that are based on the IL-76 for under $20.00 and last An-124s that will hit you around 35 to 40.

You can find theses planes all on ebay or check with dealers

Ok, guy's the posting aren't much. Ive hoped that I did my last of the C5As, with # 7 & 8 coming in!. Another C-130 of the 105th, a US of A 757-200 and last a DC-9 by Aurora (Playboy).

I wanted another C-5A 436MAW, but had to settle for a C-5B of the 60th AW. Different in price was $20.00. I guess in the end the C-5Bs will look great along side of the Tenn C-130s of the 105th.

Next on the long list is, a VC-10 with a black tail, a Marine Corp, a Grey KC-135 and a RAAF C-130

Be aware that the gray USMC DC-9 has some printing issues...the Marine titles on the fuselage didn't come out clearly, at least on my model. The dull gray finish might have had something to do with it. Not terrible, but not good. The white one is more attractive, but I think it's more of a ceremonial aircraft.
