I agree SuperkungFu, the 102 looks great. If i remember correctly, Griffis AFb had 102s or maybe 106s...can't remember,,,too much booze while stationed at Hancock AFB, 30 miles away from Griffis...can hardly wait to add this Air Force bird to my collectio

cant beat the red trim on the dagger.

I think Griffis had 101's, at least in 1966-67, Niagra had 100's(?), Suffolk had 102s beginning 1973.

I agree - the Arctic Red markings are outstanding! Can't wait to add the Delta Dagger to my collection of 1/72 USAF jet fighters from the 50s and 60s.

F-106s were the last fighters stationed at Griffiss. But several other types were stationed there in earlier years.

Yeah, it was the 106s at Griffis. I was stationed 30 miles away at Hancock outside of Syracuse from late '73 to mid '76, until I was transferred out to Plattsburgh which had F111s. The price on the upcoming F111 may keep me from buying it. However I have pre-ordered the T33(these were at Hancock).

ok, both Voodoos and darts were there

Taken from an article:
Although many aircraft landed at Griffiss during the war, the airfield had no permanently stationed flying units. It wasn't until after World War II, that the Air Force Reserve 65th Reconnaissance Group conducted aerial photo and mapping operations from Griffiss from December 27, 1946 until being inactivated on June 27, 1949.

A 49th FIS F-106A in 1970.

T-33As of the 49th FIS on the ramp at Griffiss AFB, 1984.

On October 3, 1950 that the Air Defense Command (ADC) 1st Fighter-Interceptor Group became the first permanently assigned USAF flying unit at Griffiss. ADC units were stationed at the for the next 30 years as Griffiss became a center for the Northeast air defense mission, and was headquarters of the Northeast Air Defense Sector. The 4727th Air Defense Group, equipped with F-89J came to Griffiss in February 1957.
In May 1959, the 465th Fighter Interceptor Squadron was assigned to Griffiss with F-89 Scorpion all-weather fighters. Late the next year, the 49th Fighter Interceptor Squadron assumed operational control over the 465th and became a major tenant at Griffiss. The 49th operated F-101 Voodoos until late 1968, when it was re-equipped with F-106 Delta Darts. The 49th was the last operational unit to fly the F-106s, prior to being deactivated July 1, 1987.
The 49th Fighter Interceptor Squadron replaced the 4727th ADG in October 1959 and converted from the McDonnell F-101 Voodoo to the Convair F-106 Delta darts in late 1968. The 49th FIS was inactivated at Griffiss AFB on July 1, 1987, when the air defense mission was transferred to the Air National Guard.
Beginning in 1960, Griffiss became the headquarters of the Northeast Air Defense Sector (NEADS). NEADS was responsible for defending a half million square miles of air space including New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago and other major cities. The base had been home also for the 24th Air Division since September 1983, following a major overhaul of the air defense force structure. Its air defense responsibility was to equip, administer and train combat-ready forces for the northeast United States. In 1987, the 24th Air Division's area of responsibility was expanded as part of a major restructuring of North American air defense and following the inactivation of the 23rd Air Division at Tyndall AFB, the 24th became responsible for the entire eastern United States. The 24th AD was inactivated on September 30, 1990.

Now that you have your dark blue what other scheme would you like to see. Add a photo and some background info or email it to me [email protected] I'll see what can be done.

The bottom aircraft AD-4 126959 "Naked Fanny" saw combat in Vietnam with the SOS USAF and then again with the Armee de l'air in Chad. It then found it's way onto the civillian register and now currently resides in in Chino California. It's been a regular on the North American airshow circuit

Hey Dave, any idea when HM will release pre-production photos of the Pz II?

Interested to see how that one came out.

I love the planned 1/200 scale SAC KC-97G. I sent an EMAIL as requested with concerns about the placement of the "U.S.AIR FORCE" block lettering on the fuselage as shown in the provisional drawings for the model. Photos and drawings I have seen seem to show that the lettering is larger and placed lower on the front side area of the fuselage.

I got a very nice reply back thanking me for my observations. I am confident that the final model will be as accurate as possible.

The red tailed KC-97G is a beauty and has finally convinced me to start a collection of the HM 1/200 prop transports.

Thanks for taking the time to write, Hobby Master really does appreciate everyone's input. If you take the time to write they take the time to reply. Your emails don't just go to file 13.
The way I look at this is if you are interested in a model, they are our models and Hobby Master makes them for us. So why shouldn't we have a chance to help make them better. Thanks again.

I added the list of new Hobby Master and SkyMax models to be released in February 2011. Click on December 11, 2010 at the top of the home page Hobby Master Collector Home Page and it will open the News page. Click on the model number to see drawings and/or photos of that model. If you have comments or suggestions please take a few minutes to send them to Hobby Master in Hong Kong [email protected] Now is the time to do this so any changes or alterations can be carried out in the early stages of the model development.

Couldn't help but notice in this photo though, that the number on the gap of the nose is mis-aligned and doesn't look that great. Perhaps I'm just picky.

These are pre-production photos that are meant to have things pointed out and mentioned. Thanks very much and I will make certain this misalignment is brought to Hobby Master's attention right now. Thanks again and don't hesitate to comment or even better email me with these pointers, this way I'll be certain to read them.

I will pass this post on to Hobby Master in Hong Kong. If you have comments or suggestions I would recommend sending an email directly to William Liu at Hobby Master in Hong Kong. This will get your message directly to the man that makes all the decisions.

Tank you hawkonevoodoo, that's very kind of you. As i've learned from reading around in the popular diecast froums, you and HM are having your ears close to the appreciated customers and collectors.

I think, beside many nice russian jets the collectors are waiting for, the AlhpaJet would be a small but nice Jet with many beautiful liveries for collectors. Have a look (LINK)

I added the Hobby Master and SkyMax releases for June 2011. I also add photos of the finished product for 5 military aircraft, (3) 1/72 and (2) 1/48.

that is a very beautifull saying there "we make a living...", and thank you for the EF-111F. I hope HM will make the one I asked for too.

I'm surprised Hobby Master is making another VA-25 Skyraider.

You love it It's the reason why you're happy HM are making the F-16 and not an overpriced brand like CW/X-Plus

Refresh my memory, the EF-111 MiG Killer, correct?? If so I have forwarded your request so hopefully it will be made. The aircraft has a good history to it.

I think, beside many nice russian jets the collectors are waiting for, the AlhpaJet would be a small but nice Jet with many beautiful liveries for collectors. Have a look (LINK) ;)

I passed your suggestion on to Hobby Master in Hong Kong. Only time will tell, but I'm with you. The Alpha Jet would be nice.

Probably because this one comes with the toilet.

Thank you very much! I still haven't found the time to write to HM/William by myself
Besides this, i don't had the courage to fill their mailbox with another "wanna have"-email, written in bad english

I think, your word has some weight at HM, so thanks again for passing that on to them.I hope, HM takes a shine to the AlphaJet
Another step to slowly completing my post-WWII-Luftwaffe.

Bad english? The post above from you looks more than legible. Go ahead and write to them without fear. I know from first-hand experience that they have customers that write with english WAY worse than you do.

Listen to hawkonevoodoo. He and William at HM are here to help and open to your concerns.

It's a difficult one, on the one hand you feel bad about filling up their mailbox unnecessarily with suggestions. They must receive hundreds per day. On the other, if they don't receive feedback how can they know what models people want next?

@Sachiel & Eagle: Well, thank you
I think, your're right and i should use the possibility to get in touch with a manufacturer like HM to tell them what i would like to see realized by them.

Otherwise, their mailbox only gets flooted with suggestions to make the next Jolly Roger release.

Ooops ... that was CW
