Ju-87 for me. Looks like a new mould ;)

Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
RAAF 75 SQN F/A-18A Hornet in the 'Magpie' commemorative scheme for me. I'd also be interested in the VF-102 F-14B Tomcat if I didn't already have the Century Wings equivalent.

It looks a lot like models that HM manufactured for Corgi as part of the latter's "Predator" range. |

Yes, those two Stukas, HA0132 and HA0133, also featured on the "Dec 2021 Releases" poster under the heading "1/48 Scale Air Power" but it would appear they're actually 1/72 scale.

I'm interested in the MiG-17 but will wait for pictures.

Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
After seeing that A-10 in person at Oshkosh this summer, got to have it. Also, the F-16 Wraith is probably a keeper as well.

Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
One way or the other, it's a nice enough model.
Corgi's from the Predator range: https://i.postimg.cc/zG6V2thx/Stuka-10.jpg And a Hobby Master effort from the same mold: https://i.postimg.cc/KcpF5KBN/Stuka-10-High.jpg The latter has ever since been offered up by collector's as evidence of what HM was capable of in the way of airbrush work...if they wanted to. |
Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
Ouch, very difficult month. Probably Operation Ellamy Tornado only.
Vietnamese Mig-17 has rather hideous blotches pattern not even remotely close to photos of "3020" from Vietnam. A-10: I generally don´t collect special liveries, but this looks really cool. Anyway will wait for the final product photos - it looks like HM wants to omit much of the tampos under the canopy which can make final model rather boring for me. Btw. there´s also even more centennial scheme of this A-10 with 122nd Fighter Wing logo. But as it would require adding some tampos, I think I can guess which version will HM make :D And SU-30SM. My most favourite airframe ever ..... so I will not buy this release, as well as any other SU-30SM release from HM. Deleting the air brake just got me. I can't cope with it. Its not SU-30SM to me. Someone is maybe happy, for me it has ruined this model completely. So better be p*ssed off only once when deciding not to buy than to be piss*d off every time every day I look at it .... |

I don’t own any HM USN F-4s but I’ve been considering this VF-92 release. However, some guys on another forum have started bringing up a problem with the walkways on these. I don’t want to copy their work, so here’s my (not as good) version. Notice how the edge of the model’s walkway sort of droops over the edge of the top the engine in the area of the engine intake to fuselage model component joint. Apparently this is a partly down to a fault with the mould, and partly because they’ve been painting walkways that are too wide.
Upshot is, non-USN releases don’t have this problem. Or perhaps it’s a matter of writing to HM and asking them to fix it before they release the VF-92. As ever, it takes lots of people to change their minds on anything. This issue applies to all their USN releases with walkways. |
Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
Valid point. Absolutely valid point.
I´m sure you are among those who will be asking Hobby Master to correct this persistent mistake (I´d even dare to say in the name of all Military forum members, if no one objects). And I can also imagine that to persuade such an ossified structure as Hobby Master to correct (evident) mistake that maybe no-one complained of before, will need multiple emails from multiple collectors. Otoh, its possibly just a "trivial" change of four tampoprinting plates (if walkways are tampoprinted). If painted, fix could be even more simple. Maybe. |
Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
Yes I will be writing in, but I’m sure you’re correct that this one will take quite a few collectors.
I’ve looked into it a bit more. It applies to all of their USN and USMC Phantoms with walkways, going back to the very beginning. Given that over a decade has gone by without complaint, I’m sure they are going to be hard to persuade of the need for a change. I think the root of the problem, surprise, surprise - is kit copying. If you blindly copy kits, you copy other people’s mistakes. The walkways are too wide and this seems to be generic kit issue. On top of that the tooling seems to have a bit of a shape issue. There’s no way the second point will get fixed. |
Re: Hobby Master January 2022 Releases
Nothing there that I could possibly want. No RAF camo Tonka with the new canopy, nor any Rall or Barkhorn Gustav.
