Default Hobby Master Collector refernce website

Anyone know when (or if) this amazing reference site will be back up? I understand the owner moved to WordPress, but that was almost 2 months ago. Am I missing something? https://www.hobbymastercollector.com...yaircraft.html

Elements of HM Collector have been working *most* of the time since the proprietor began transitioning to the sites new platform. The model images section and release calendars, for instance, have been accessible through much of the period. You just gotta know what to click on. Hopefully, the whole enchilada will be up and fully functional soon.

His site is still not 100%. it used to have the civi 1/200 section which hobbymaster did actually make some very good old propeller liners.

Most of it still won't let you click on it.

It's been moved to its new server, but it still won't let you look at most of the lists.

As predicted, this site's evolution to a second generation iteration is a total disaster. No matter how much he tweaks it, it will be basically as slow and unresponsive as it is now. It's time for the site owner to stop that well meaning but ultimately naitve and futile "upgrade" and return to the simple but fast and very efficient site that he had done before. It is worth repeating: no amount of wordpress tweaking will get the new site to anywhere nearly as fast, responsive, or usable as it was before and clearly right now the server is straining, as wordpress tends to do, on minimal load. The owner had a great resource. It's time to realize that the new system is ****e and to stop throwing good money after bad and to just go back to the old system of simple, fast, static HTML pages.

If you click on any of the available sections you get an error 904 page. & many of the sections aren't available to click on them.

Maybe he needs a cheaper provider? Maybe we should donate to have him move back to old provider?

yep, hobbymaster is absolutely insane for not funding this. i have not purchased at least a half dozen models that i migth have had the site not been down.

even more insane is noel, who, as much as i love the guy and his products, JUST DOESNT GET IT. his website is ****e, and his response is to constantly insist that he's working on it which means yet more tiny photos on their slow and ****e site.

I dont think it can be overemphasized just how important the HMC website is/was to HM sales. I dont think it can be overemphasized just how silly noel and other manufacturers are for not either themselves developing or working with enthusiastic amateurs in developing fast and responsive "dream sites" which clearly ourline their products.

but no, people tend to work on what they know, so noel will obsess over some small part of some small release rather than doing what truly matters for his business. absolute madness.

that all said, i have a mirror of the old HMC website saved. if this nonsense goes on much longer, i might make it public.

Please please make it available to us ASAP i am sure we can find someone here to host it. I really want to use the 1/200 section. HM makes some really good 1/200 prop oldies.

can somebody ask the site maintainer whether i can put it on a public server for all?

i might have to fix the links and such a bit, and i am fairly busy at the moment, but i do have servers for hosting - that's not a problem.

i might even be able to re-work it to get right of things that are theoretically copyrighted by the HMC guy - that is, i just keep the HM images and create new static HTML pages. doable and not even hard, just takes time.
