Very nice Robert. I have the same model. The Stirling is my favourite WW2 bomber, a fascinating aircraft.

Ditto. What`s not to love about them. It`s` a shame none survive. Though The Stirling Aircraft Charity are doing some fine work in the Cockpit area of the aircraft.
It’s a classic machine, and I personally feel that “the reply” is the classic release. However, anyone after one now needs to be aware of the main gear issue. Basically Corgi messed up the extended main gear on this first release. Not sure exactly from which release onwards it was corrected. They made the corrected replacements available for free. If you’re chasing one down it may be worth checking with the spares guys first to see if they still have the replacements available.

yes i did. i will re-iterate in my reply that it should be free. and see what happens. but its not a big deal for me. if i showed it to a million people, hardly anybody would know it has wrong gear.
plus if i put extended gear on, it would not fit on shelf.

hi steve, they are too short basically. gear should be taller like the one on left of picture. having said that, model looks perfectly fine as it is.

Never really paid close attention to the Stirling, always kind of regarded it as an ugly step-brother. But this thread has made me reconsider what an interesting bird this is; make that a huge bird. I had no idea it was so large. Don't have one in my collection, of course. But if I can find the room I'd considerate it! In the meantime, I think I will do some research into this aircraft.

My understanding is this one Middelton had the correct gear after the previous error on McRoberts reply

It`s a very interesting aircraft, especially when you find out why the wings look disproportionately shorter than they should be!! I won`t spoil it for you!
Regarding the undercarriage. Collectors had to replace the early Lanc Main undercarriage too. Original were plastic rather than metal. I`m sure lots of Lanc`s belly flopped under the weight. These were also free replacements at the time.
Well out of the blue My Stirling landed this afternoon, wasn't expecting it till Tuesday next week, and what a nice model it is, the detail on it is great you can have the bombs on show or closed as with the landing gear, and with the info you Guys gave me, it has the extended correct gears, it also appears a lot bigger than the other bombers IE Lancaster, & B17, and Liberator, quite heavy to.
